This fix worked like a charm to fix a very annoying problem! I combined this fix with a PN8601 Magnetic Switch I purchased on Amazon as suggested in another video in place of the cheap Dollar Store magnetic piece taken from the door/window security alarm circuit board shown here! No soldering required with the PN8601 switch and much easier installation!

The Magnetic Switch I used is the PN8601 it has three screw terminals open/closed/com. Connect the green/purple wire to the open terminal and the ground to the Com terminal

Thank you man! it took me time but I got it done! I had already cut my wires to try to fix the car another way as described in another video, but yours gives me an option for the light to still come on when I open the drive door. I'm now as happy as ever............thanks again

Not a bad hack to fix a common bad door ajar sensor issue. I like it. With that said, seems easier to me to buy a new sensor and replace it after figuring out what door is causing the problem. Door panels normally come off with 2-3 screws. Still a neat way to fix a common problem that probably will last longer then a stock sensor.

I really didn't want to remove the door, for me it was easier to do this

Problem is that some people replaced this sensor 2 or 3 times. More than 300$ if you do it yourself

The Dollar Store Alarm System I bought no longer has a reed switch that you can extract. It appears to be internal the microcircuit. I ended up buying a reed switch from amazon.

My friend has a ford fushion 2011. When she trys to lock the doors, it wont lock as it thinks a door is open on the car depite there not being one open. Any ideas ? Its uk based btw so i dont know if the cars may be different there.

I better option for your magnetic read sensor is something we use in the alarm industry. Something like Aleph DC-1561 or unequivalent.

Is the reed relay normal open or normal closed? In other words, if the magnet is away from relay, an ohmmeter connected to the relay is showing zero ohms or infinity?

A door pillar switch $20 on Amazon take the window guide rail loose 2 screws take the door lock off 2 screws pull it out far enough to take some channel locks to take out the switch and do the same putting it back in reassemble backwards and your done this my brother is a waste of time and money buying magnets appreciate your work around but it's unnecessary for a $20 dollar part just did it to my explorer

try spraying copious amounts of penetrating oil into all the door mechanisms and repeatedly opening and shutting the door and seeing if that doesn't break up the corrosion in the switch mechanism

That is not the cheapest way to fix door ajar ..the simplest way is with WD 40 Silicon Spray..not regular WD40..You Spray every Door Lock on your vehicle..that means you saturate every door lock with WD40 Silicon Spray..don’t miss any of the locks..theres usually 5 door locks if you have a hatchback or SUV..once you spray the Door locks You Open and Close the Door a minimum of 6 times on each Door to get the Dirty Switch to activate..I forgot one window Door latch if you have a explorer that opens separate from your back door that needs to be sprayed too. The door locks have a. electrical switch to tell the computer that there is a door ajar.

Hindsight 101 what kind of spray did you use and if it worked at all it should keep working..don’t use any kind of solvent or cleaner..make sure you got every switch sprayed and keep opening and closing your doors..I don’t know what kind of vehicle you have..most of the time this procedure works.

You seem to know what's up, but you need to tell us what you are doing and where it is. I'm familiar with the basics of a Ford Escape, and this problem, but I have no idea of what you are doing or where you are going. Where is this happening? On a bench? Don't look like the door of a Ford.

Wires are the same on the driver side. But passanger side is what im having issues with. But the wires color code is a bit different. I might have to compare wires and grab a wiring diagram for the car. In any case thankyou for the video.
