How to fix Ford unavailable rear view camera

Update: I ended up changing the backup camera • Ford Explorer backup c... . This may not work for everyone. This is just a quick non expensive way to make the camera work. It worked for me for about 2 months now i am having the same problem i might have to replace the camera. This is the first time this happened so i thought i should make a video

Lol you have to take the entire hatch apart to replace it, I did this trick and it only worked ONCE, then my whole camera stopped working. Replaced myself now it works. Never take it to the dealership unless it’s necessary

I had a similar issue with my Ford Flex. The camera was working about 50% of the time. I got my wheel alignment done and it now works 100% of the time. I'm not sure how the two are related, but that is what fixed my intermittent backup camera issue.

Glad I found this video. This worked on my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo; disable the camera via my system setup and re-enabled the camera and the camera came back on. My mom noticed the camera not being detected after she went to the dealer to take care of a recall to our jeep. She later took it to the same dealer and they wanted to charged her $125 to check the system and $800 to replace the camera. Hopefully I don't have to replace the camera or it could be just a fuse issue as I saw on another video.

Ya hopefully you won't have to replace it. I will highly doubt that it would be a fuse. If it was a fuse it wouldn't work at all. Camera's are just like anything they will eventually stop working, but the longer they work the better it is.

Had this issue a few years ago, and this trick worked. Had it happen again yesterday, and the trick didn't fix it a second time. However, disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes did the trick. So that's option two, if the first doesn't get the job done.

What about if I have this problem intermittently plus when the image does show it's a mirror image. Opposite of what it should be.

I haven't ran into any trouble with mirror imaging. Disconnect the battery for a minute by removing the negative terminal. If you don't want to do that. Maybe do a master reset on the sync. Keep in mind it will erase everything though, saved bluetooth devices, Navigation settings likes saved and previous destination, Audio settings etc. I'm not sure if it will fix the issue though.

There is a wire crossed somewhere. $700 is highway robbery. Go to an independent store that installs car stereos etc, it will be 1/5th of dealership.

Works...... kinda..... but good enough for me!!!!! 😁 My camera settings are different, I have "enhanced park aid" and "rear camera delay" only. When I set them to off, camera seems to always work. I have a 2014 Fusion and I'm about to try this, but when disconnecting battery, I'd advise to get / use that little memory stick you use when you change out your battery. Otherwise, you may be risking losing all the memory on ALL your devices and BOY...! would that suck !!!

Okay so my camera went out in my 2014 Ford Explorer so I did exactly what you did but on my screen it was a bit different.. so I did basically what you did and now my camera look completely different almost like it has a filter on it. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery with a 10mm socket. Wait for 1 minute and plug it back, it might work. I have never experienced that so i don't know what the problem could be. Let me know if it works or not.
