One suggestion is to show that you have to pull the wheel all the way down past the motor so that people can see exactly how it goes on.

I agree. Took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to pulley functions. I also thought that I had ordered the wrong size belt. Not sure I would have ever figured it out without reading the comments. Granted, I am a female nurse and not an appliance repair technician. I still have to pat myself on the back for being a DIY homeowner who is intelligent enough to finally figure it out. I doubt I would have been able to attempt it myself without your video. 👍 So thank you!

I found a lip on the metal frame bit that the motor rests on. I went ahead and got the belt around the drum. Moved the tensioner past the motor pulley, and arrested it on the frame bit. After the belt was around the pulley on the motor, I could use my right hand to remove the tensioner from the frame and get the belt on the tensioner pulley with one hand. Not an easy task, not enough room for two hands unless you pull the rear panel also.

I did not find this video till after I took a bit more off then needed. I did wonder about that felt dangling, that was good tip. My fail was the tension pulley split in two. It does need a good cleaning out and think I will replace the drum bushing since it is apart. An of course a new belt.

Very good video. I came across this video while looking for videos on replacing the timer switch. It seems that hotpoint isn't the best of brands but I like mine still. A hotpoint is better.than having no dryer at all lol. Saving this video for future reference. Thanks for sharing this video.

Mine was 89 inches. I thought there was lag, but you have to move the wheel down past the motor (as another person mentioned in their comment).

The small wheel that is attached to the bottom of the dryer by a spring arm. Push the wheel all the way past the motor shaft when snaking the belt on to give it more tension. 2.57

i have a question

Mine was not spinning but making a humming noise when start.. so I took apart to change belt, but belt was not broken. I started it again, and manually rotated the drum.. and it took off and started spinning by itself.. after a few tests (start stop), it continues to start and run.. I did see a spark and smelled it ,, but that might be the heating element kicking on.. so I am going to put this back together and observe it very closely on the next use.. still don’t trust it.
