I had my own Appliance repair business for 37 years and no one ever mentions this but do not open the dryer door while the dryer is running!! If the temperature is at max heat and you open the door it can blow the thermal fuse. Always turn the timer to the cool down position for at least 1 minute before you open the door!

First, thank you for the video. It has helped quite a bit but my dryer seems to have an underlying issue. When I went to use it there was no power at all. Checked the breaker and tested the cord and both were fine. Took the back off and emptied vent in back. Took off the Thermal fuse and taped the wires and it worked. Replaced the thermal fuse and hooked everything back up and it worked for a couple loads. The next day it wouldn't run. Checked the breaker and the cord. The cord tested 240 from right to left but only 10-11 from right to middle and from middle to left. The outlet (3prong) tested 240 from right to left and 120 right to middle and from middle to left. So I replaced the cord and retested. The cord then showed the correct voltage. The dryer ran for a couple loads but the next day it wouldn't run. Now the new cord is testing 240 from right to left but only 10-11 from right to middle and from middle to left. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Or what I should try next?

Thank you brother!!! My dryer (old POS that it is) had the light on but it would not start. I checked everything (element, fuses, main power) then I found your video and saw that a common cause was the little PLASTIC switch on the door frame!!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!! The laundry is getting dried this evening because of my jerry-rigged fix! I took on of those bulk paper clips (the smallest one I could find) and wedges it in the door and it helped make the door long enough to trigger the switch! lol. FIXED IT! (for now). Thanks again!

Both my washer and dryer are old school no unnecessary sensors like over load or door sensor needed to run. They have been running great with no problems since I bought them for $100 each 5 years ago. JUST A NOTICE!!! My dryer would not start. I checked everything, EVERYTHING, before taking it apart to test the motor. When I had performed the continuity test on the white & blue wire connect and then the white & black wire connect into the motor switch, everything was good. SO!! I did a VOLTAGE TEST where I put a jump wire for the door switch to mimic the door being closed. I put my multimeter on ACV 250. I plugged the dryer in. Set the timer to heat dry and pushed the start switch. BOO-YAH!!! It worked. So then I removed the multimeter probes from the connection and tried the start switch again. It is still working. APPARENTLY when I had pushed those probes into the wire harness, I snugged up a loose wire. EVERYONE told me that it was VERY rare that a motor would go bad on a Whirlpool dryer, especially a 3 year old dryer. I was about to load this dryer up and take it to a parts shop to put a new motor in. WHEW!!! Saved a few hundred dollars by checking everything.
