Thank You, Thank You! This right here has solved about a year of headaches with my beloved Laserjet 2035. A solid workhorse except for the dreaded extra sheets. I did have to glue a piece of fabric to replace the sticky residue of sponge material.

This worked on my HP 1020. It no longer has a pad there, but did have residual adhesive. Cleaned it off. Good to go. Oh, There was a metal panel which easily removed to ease access to the solenoid. So no bending necessary. Thanks

I was skeptical of this fix, but I had tried all the firmware updates, factory resets, etc. So, this was my last chance to get my M1319f from wasting a lot of paper. But this fix worked (with a slight addition to the procedure) and I am amazed. As another poster mentioned the metal around the solenoid gets magnetized, so even scraping off the remains of the old pad and adhesive didn't work for me. But I all I had to do was glue a thin piece of leather to act like a pad and keep the metal-on-metal from continuing to stick. I hate throwing away old equipment without trying to fix it first. you are a life saver! I have my HP LASERJET 1020, it was printing an extra blank page every time I print a document, I tried everything, I was a little scared of opening my printer but it was really easy, I removed the side right panel, I found the solenoid in the bottom right of the right side, I had to bend the metal cover just a little in order to take the screw holding the solenoid, I took it out, I cleaned the sticky rubber with alcohol in order to remove it all, I put everything back an it work perfectly! no more extra blank pages, My boss wanted to replace this old printer but there is not need now! thank you!

Wow! This actually worked! Thank you for this amazing solution to such a tedious problem - I wasted at least 2 packs of paper in the last 6 months.

I actually had to re-apply some duck-tape to raise the metal hatchet away from the magnet... it magnetized the metal housing for a couple seconds more then needed and pulled more paper. Fix worked on my HP LaserJet P2055dn.
