Just so you know, in the case where you do not want to change your screen protector or case, if the screen turnes black during the call and doesn't come back on, simply push the lock button on the side twice to turn it back on. Just be careful to not push it if the screen is already on, since that'll end the call.

Hi I own iphone 11 and I used to think that this is happening because of my screen protector but after changing it the problem is still there After doing what you’ve told above it works but the sensor starts working again I mean during calls the screen goes on and off like normal but to trigger this I have to use lock button trick mentioned above Is there anyway to make it permanent I mean without doing the above mentioned trick It’s kinda annoying 😅

hmm, seems like even those thin see through stickers on replacement screens is enough to confuse the proximity sensor, as ive seen this most often when testing the ear and loud speakers on my customer's phones using the 611 service number following a screen replacement, tho it seems to be especially prevalent on X series iphones. most of the time clicking the power button a few times seems to get the screen to turn on again but sometimes once it goes black only power cycling the phone via disconnecting the battery is able to get it to return to normal, force restart (vol up, down, then hold power till apple logo) wont work as no apple logo will appear nor does the phone seem to be doing anything. I was beginning to think that this was either due to the screens we having being iffy, some wierd software feature that apple implements just to screw with 3rd party repair guys, or some wierd mb issue that the customer might've left out in hopes they can blame it on me and get it fixed for free (some people are really dishonest, especially the extreme hagglers). this seems pretty helpful.

Oh it’s the case I see I did not know that that was what was going on. Thank you. I sure wish there was a way to change it in the settings because I’m accident prone if I drop my phone I’m screwed but this problem is killing me. I’m constantly having to recall places that I have to use the touchpad. What a joke.
