Good to hear Chris. Unfortunately the cable routing is not a good design, but I believe even Cadillac CTS struggles with the same issue - can't open trunk even. But well worth the money to replace the cable and have at least another 10 to 15 years of service out if it.

Hi Hilton The screen went black yesterday in my 2013 XF and I was very grateful for your video which quite rightly identified the issue and saved me a lot of money and inconvenience taking it to my Jaguar dealer in Liverpool ( Hatfields) I picked up the new loom from Hatfields that afternoon for £48 ( It was in stock) and I ordered some (Metal) trim clip removal tools from Ebay and did the job this afternoon. It went very smoothly thanks to your video. A couple of tips Firstly I took the opportunity to make sure all the wiring running across the boot ( Trunk) lid etc was securely fixed using extra cable ties and duct tape to ensure it did not rattle. Secondly, when the trim clips with the central screws are removed they tend not to tighten up very well when you replace them. I found that using slightly thicker self tapping screws ensured that they were as tight as possible. Great stuff Hilton Steve

Very good. I had same issue. I did not check the price here in Canada. A jag mechanic said it was more like 400. So I spliced all the wires myself. I believe the camera is coaxial. And the colour will come back with using a shield. So I first slid on small pipe and a heat shrink. Then I slpiced copper line and original shielding slid over the heat shrink. After shrunk slide over small pipe. Then electrical tape. Worked. It's clear enough and colour.

The older XF's might use coaxial. However, mine uses a CAT5 fiber optic wire which isn't repairable. This is why I wasn't sure about whether this harness will work on the old shape XF. Jaguar used fiber optics for various other items in the car as well due to their speed which communicated with the car's canbus. I should have broken the old cable up to show everyone what it looks like.

This is what I'm trying to get across to those who say, just repair it. I could easily have repaired my loom but a few months later another wire would snap and I'd have to fix it again. It's not nice driving a car with the anxiety of what's going to go wrong next. If you replace the loom, you know it's good for another 10 years at least.

Not had this one yet despite running additional cables through that gaiter for a 360 camera system. I though that was fixed for the facelift cars but apparently not. I've seen other whe re wiring has stress fractured. It would make an interesting follow up video to do a post-mortem on the old cable.

You have to go into the hidden menu. Someone posted a video on KZbin a while ago on how to get in there. There is a code you must enter after pressing certain buttons on the center stack. Search for it on KZbin and you should be able to find it.

@Warguy-uw6pi unfortunately I don't know what that reference number means. I just know the part number which I used. The only way to know the camera isn't working is when the screen goes blank instead if giving you an image. The you know it's the cable. The camera rarely breaks. The license plate light bulb can be changed from outside the car. Just use a small flat head screw driver, insert it in the little slot on the lense and unclip it to reveal the bulb.

Hey Rob - usually if the rear camera stops working, the sensors will still continue to work. However, if one of the rear parking sensors becomes faulty, this could affect your BSM. The camera loom in the trunk like the one I replaced is not mutually connected to the blind spot or parking sensors system - this will not cause your sensors to stop working. Just a note, you need to check the part number against your particular model, in my case a 2011 XF-S and the part number is different to what you have quoted, for my vehicle it is C2Z19874

Yeah, judging by some of the nasty comments I received regarding the optic cable for the camera some are not fitted with one. My car has the auto close trunk latch so that could also be a specific cable.

Sounds about right. Jaguar UK dealers charge 325 UK pounds to supply and fit that harness. It's only a half hour job.

Put the car in reverse with the ignition on, but don't fire the engine. Then go round the back of the car and put your ear next to each of the four sensors along the bumper. You should hear a faint rapid clicking sound from each one. If only one sensor is down, the entire system fails.

@user-vd5fm7ym5k if you constantly have power goingbtonthe socket the wires will get hot and eventually overheat and potentially cause a fire. There is a short circuit in that loom, which causes the light to stay on all the time. Short circuits cause fires, plain and simple. I would change that loom for a new one. It's defective. Sounds to me like the wires inside the loom have a positive permanently touching another positive, which is causing the short. I wouldn't yake the chance unless you want the car to burn out due to being problematic and want the insurance to pay out for a replacement 😊

Nope. Just replace the loom. The car isn't on or in reverse so the wires are pretty much dead.

This is another design fault that has persisted throughout the evolution of the XF that the customer ends up paying for. Did jaguar never think that people would never open and close the trunk. ? One fog lamp had stopped working in my XF. I traced the fault back to the loom. Luckily it was just a case of unplugging the loom and a squirt of WD 40 and plugging it back together again and that fixed the problem. 👍 My XF is now with another owner. It's relaibilty has been questionable to say the least. My Jaguar X type was totally reliable and only had a new battery and intercooler hose clip replaced during its 136000 miles.

Hey, it's possible the new loom is faulty. I would exchange it for another and check to see if that fixes it. I know this is a dumb question, but are you sure you plugged it into the camera cable? It's easy to forget as one goes along. Are you licence plate and tail lights working?

No, they aren't, but they are linked to the same canbus. If one parking sensor is faulty, your camera won't work. Locate and replace the sensor, and your camera will work again. Dumb way for Jag to have designed it, but there you are.

Nope. The camera will stop working the moment just one sensor stops working. Your camera is probably fine. Have the sensors checked to see which one is faulty. The moment you replace the faulty sensor, your camera will come back on.

I'm afraid its best to get this from the dealer. It won't be cheap, but it will last. If you get one from a salvage yard, chances are it will most likely fail soon any way.

Mine is a facelifted 2011 model. I believe the same part will fit your car if it is the pre-facelift model. I checked my dealer after filming this video and they said it's used for all the XF's that are X250.

Yip. That's correct. Many of the cables connecting to the canbus use fiber optic cables. VW and Audi have been using the same solution since the early 2000's.

I have had this quite a lot. People buy cameras for their Jags on eBay and it doesn't work. The camera is not the issue, the harness is. You need to replace the harness with a new one or salvage one and it will all work fine again.

Hey Marius - are you referring to the window chrome or the trunk chrome? The window chrome can be removed by opening the door, in the door jab just where the chrome meets the end of the door, there is a grommet that must be removed, there's a screw in there. Once that screw is removed, you can maneuver the chrome off - but you must also first remove the side mirror on both front doors - the door card must come off to do that and you will then have access to the side mirror bolts, undo them and the loom plug and you good to go.

Hey Daniel - I bought it at Jaguar. It wasn't very expensive considering the complexity of the loom and it's better to replace it with a brand new one so that you know it will last many more years to come. My camera has worked faultlessly since replacing this loom ;)

One of your parking sensors could be faulty. Plug an OBDII into the car and run a scan. If one of the sensors doesn't work properly the camera will not work. If not a sensor then the actual camera is faulty. I'd just get a 2nd hand one.

Thanks for the video the rip Off here is you only need the optical cable not the full loom….it’s over engineered the loom is causing stress on the optic cable that is why it breaks probably in the rigid loom itself.

The camera yes, but I'm not sure about the sensors. It sounds like two separate buddies to me because they are not interlinked. The sensors will still work even if the camera stops working. It's possible you have one dead sensor and it's causing them all not to work. They run in sequence as far as wiring is concerned so it's probably the first sensor from the plug causing the rest to be dead too. Best to take the bumper off and check the wiring, if that's all good, check each sensor using a multi meter. Start with the first one closest to the plug as that will tell you a lot. 😉

Hey Dave, yes it does. Chances are that wire broke right in the kink of the bend of the loom. And chances are that if you have a backup camera, that too will stop working soon as the wires start to break one by one.

You can repair it but the other wires in the loom will also fail soon. It's just better to replace the loom. Cadillac CTS has the exact same issue. Parts supplied by the same manufacturer for both Cadillac and Jaguar at the time.

Thanks for sharing. That will be very helpful to many coming to this video for the same reason. I've had some guys saying they replaced the harness and still blue screen, so perhaps water was the problem there too.
