I downloaded the Avid package on my Mac and my PC. Following your directions, I keep getting an error on my Mac when I try to run video through MPEG streamclip. It seems to have worked on my PC, but is loading fairly slow. I will update on video on the PC when it is done. Otherwise very good, and simple to follow video and instructions!

I find your video interesting and it was helpful though i have not tried it yet. I Bought a Canon 200D after recording and uploading work on my pc, it because a problem to watch and edit the video. I already thought of Buying new memory card thinking it was virus, later i suspect the PC thinking it mot powerful enough, i because confused and fed up. I just thought of coming to KZbin and search for any help then i find your video. THANKS a lot. Apart from using converter on the PC is there any way to set the resolution from the Canon to reduced the MB it consumed and still have good quality video?.

I have since purchased FCP and prores was part of its package. I also upgraded my ram and got a fw800 2tb external drive to store my media. I can now play back 720p HD without any problems. It looks like I can put off buying a new system a little bit longer.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! the video is now fixed. However I have my next issue! when I uncompress the files the audio doesnt match up to the video. For example I used my GoPro to film myself and son shooting our bows. It is attached to my bow so you see the arrow draw back then you hear it fire and 6-7 seconds later you actually see the arrow fire. So for example a 20 second video the audio is over in say 10 seconds. Please help!!!!

I have a very strong computer and I can process 4K/60 video from DJI Mini 2 without any problems and the video is absolutely fluid, but the same resolution from GoPro 9 (so 4K/60) is still laggy. I record manual, shutter speed 60, 4K/30, 5500K, ISO100 (maximum also 100), Flat color, medium sharpness .... Video compression has no effect, so the same thing happens no matter what compression I use ... Can you please give me some advice to solve this problem?

Tks for the mac tutorial. I didn't have the Prores so I went over to read your blog and dl the Avid Codecs. Followed your directions and example, and everything worked as you said. Indeed, new file size is 10x the orig. I mostly do video tuts on YT. Storage isn't really a problem, but slow internet connection is. (At best we get an upload speed of 0.5 MBps ) Do you have any recommendations for what settings to use that will assist in reducing file size? Or what settings to use on the gopro that would reduce the original file size? Currently using 720x60wide because I don't like the "fish bowl" video look. Thanks for any help you can provide.

My mac is an OSX 10.6.8 2GH Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM. I did a test of a short video GOPR0093.MP4, 144.7MB, 57 sec. I ran the MPEG Streamclip just as you outlined and the vid finished at GOPR0093.mov 3.15GB (!!) QuickTime movie. So then I did a bit of reading online about what formats KZbin like. I read a preferred method is H.264 using standard 16:9 and 30fps. So, I ran the same source vid using Compression H.264, Frame Size 16:9 and Frame Rate 30. The resulting video is 182.8MB, only a little larger than the original file and MUCH SMALLER than using AVID DNxHD Codec. I think the H.264 produced a better color and less grainy video too.

Interesting Video!! I downloaded the stream clip you suggested - it's version 1.9.2 - BUT the video formats to convert to are different from those you show in your video. I took a stab in the dark and selected 'apple video', hoping it would be a reasonable option - but it grew the file sizes of my video by 30X. 30M --> 900M. But, the video did stop jumping! So it worked ... which is cool. BUT is there something a little 'lesser' in term of decompression you could suggest? I just wanna make youtube vids with some simple go pro footage. Any suggestions? Thanks for your Great Vid!!
