The on screen keyboard saved me. It's a good temporary fix when your computer will no longer allow driver updates due the computer being too old.

When my windows 10 pc is switched on the NUM key does not light up . I have to pull out the usb connection and reinsert; to fix the problem thereafter the computer accepts the keyboard inputs. why does this happen any fix ?

Ughhh..... The only thing that worked in my case was to restart my PC. Which I hate doing because normally I hibernate it so I can keep my windows open whenever I boot my PC back up. Apparently for Windows switching keyboard to another USB port is too much to handle and will just outright refuse to listen to my keyboard with none of the fixes mentioned working other than... yep... you guessed it.... restarting Windows 🙃

If laptop keyboard is not working, remember that it can be a hardware issue as well. I recommend connecting an external keyboard and checking if it works first

I've been coming to device manager after every restart to enable and disable the Unrecognised USB Device there, and then my keyboard would work. Turns out my keyboard is dying, so I got a new one and now it works after every boot. Please consider getting a new keyboard in case the fixes don't work😹

What an idiot! Interestingly, google searches by people blocked by this problem will encounter a "fix", encouraging user to abandon the bug-ridden windows platform in favor of their new google OS. So far, all the fixes I've tried fails to keep my wireless Logitech keyboard working. It types just file in application windows, but not in brain-dead windoze.
