That is funny you mention this, it has happened to me before also. Another similar phenomena occurs when you have to go through an automated answering service to get to customer service. Enough to just annoy the living day lights out a person.

Just fixed my laptop keyboard today. After checking drivers and keyboard settings I found that it ended up being a hardware issue that was resolved by cleaning the ribbon cables and making sure they were properly connected. Thanks for the concise and informative video!

I already do the steps you presented but the keyboard of my laptop still have problem like the space bar button, letter S,F,H,Z,X,C,V,B and N are not working. I also open it to take a look on the motherboard and the ribbon but i did not see any indications of damage. however other laptops i'd check, you ideas is very useful and effective. Thank anyway for sharing.

Use wd40 and spray a little under the key

While none of your solutions fixed my problem individually, I found that by combining them, my problem was solved. I enabled filter keys, uninstalled my keyboard drivers, rebooted, and disabled filter keys, my keyboard worked again. Pretty weird that they didn't work by themselves but did all together.

What a great video, I tried all possibilities to fix mine without success but perhaps there is an easy solution to my dilemma. My keyboard was working fine until my cat sat on the keyboard, first it went haywire and typed all kind of numbers, symbols etc. After restarting it does not type anything. Maybe you can suggest something else? In any case loved the video, very clear and easy to follow.

Thanks Hannele, I will suggest you try reseatung the keyboard connector cable by removing and hooking it back, if that fails try an external keyboard, if that works maybe you need a keyboard replacement

Thank you so much. I took my laptop apart, unfortunately I didn't have the same model as you I have a HP so my keyboard connector wire was on the bottom of my laptop. I disconnected the wire and cleaned it and reconnected it and it's now working properly. Only took me about 20 minutes with no PC repair experience. It is totally worth the try. I think a shop probably would of charged me over 100 dollars to fix it.

EVERYONE IF THESE DIDN'T WORK FOR YOU, JUST DO A SYSTEM RESTORE!! (look it up if you don't know how to, it doesn't delete any files or damage anything, it simply reverts your settings to a previous date when everything was working fine, it was the only way i fixed my issues)

Yeah, my keyboard my stopped working for specific keys earlier today (letters y/u/h/j/n/m and numbers 6/7) and i looked all around youtube for resolutions (uninstalling drivers etc), even ended up opening up the laptop and trying to clean the connector for the keyboard, but nothing did the trick, but then i did a system restore to like two days prior and it fixed everything.
