No wonder you ditched that piece of teflon tape, I've tried it a few times, it never helped me. IDK maybe it shifts from the gas pressure or something, I think it only works on threads.

Yeah, definitely it hit-or-miss with the Teflon tape. I always hear about using the Teflon tape and I have the same problem as you, it always manages to come off somehow. The silicone oil rarely fails for me so I stick with that!
