Here's a Ford story for you.... When I was in college pursuing an engineering degree I took a job at the local Ford assembly plant since I was flat broke and needed to pay for school. I started working on the assembly line drilling holes in the firewall for cars that had AC as an option. The cars had a metal tag attached to the frame, with codes for the options on that car. I was supposed to look for a specific code that indicated AC as an option, then I was to drill the holes in the firewall or the AC lines. But the paint was so thick on the tag I couldn't read the tags. So I drilled some cars, and some I didn't. It was kind of a guess on my part as to whether drill or not. Every time a car with AC in the code arrived near the end of the assembly line with out the holes drilled, they would have to stop the entire line to disassemble a bunch of junk on that car, so they could then drill the holes. I estimate the line was stopped about 30% of the time I was there. I worked a week then quit since no one would help me understand the codes, and those workers were some real knuckle draggers. And so now you know why quality was/is what it is there... I suppose the knuckle dragger that was supposed to install that hose, couldn't read the code tag! LOL

I recently bought a 2017 Lariat with the double panel sun roof. Today in NC we just had probably several inches of rain, and I discovered some standing water drippage on the passenger floor, and water actively leaking out of the grab handle. I may have the same problem and I’m going to check soon after the weather let’s up. Apparently this is extremely common on these trucks, and the back and forth people go through with the dealerships makes it worth doing a DIY fix. More often than not it’s a disconnected tube. Thanks for sharing this Matt

Thank you, Matt. You gave me the confidence to fix it myself. I was not missing the entire hose but it was not connected and your video save me $$ and time.

I recently got an '18 Raptor and have little bit of water on both sides. I believe the passenger side is from the AC drain in the wheel well/firewall (TSB on it) but the water on driver's side is probably this. Thanks for the video, purchasing the drain tubes and taking the front Moonroof apart to clean & lube, check the drain hole up there for clogs and find out why it won't open. I don't know who had this truck before me but it seems they wanted to disregard ask the small problems and just sold the truck ; I'm the sucker that ended up with it. But, it was a "steal" for a loaded Gen 2 Raptor.

I just bought a new to me 2020 F150 with the exact same problem. Low miles, first owner probably never opened the sunroof. Mine just started leaking after I opened the sunroof last week. Gonna check this tomorrow. Thanks so much for the video.

Nice video, I appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to help others. I have a 2019 802A Raptor, and it was dripping a few drops on the passenger side front grab handle and had a single drop on the rear right side of the accessory switches.

Dude, thank you so much for this video!! The FIRST thing I'm doing in the morning is checking for those drain line ends. If they are missing I'm going to have a freaking cow! I have a 2018 3.5 Lariat (with moon roof) that has been plagued with the same type of water leak you're having, but on the passenger side. I've been back and forth to the dealership (so many times I probably should have lemon law'd it) since I first got the truck for this problem. And now that I'm out of warranty of course it started again. I've actually made them replace the carpeting twice under warranty because it was so wet in the front floor pans. Anyhow I'm pulling my shit apart tomorrow if need be... No more free carpet for me you know!

Great video. Thanks! I have water dripping from the same places, but it didn't always leak. Just hoping it is a clogged line. Looking for visual confirmation of the location of the drain tube, I found your video. I too have warranty coverage, but don't want to leave my vehicle for 3 days for what can be resolved in 30 minutes. Shaky or not, your video was great! I like how you showed the line's location from beginning to end. I have a 2017 150 Platinum, so mine may be a little different. Thanks to you though, now I know how to remove the pillar cover, and get to where it should be on mine. My comments on the duchy, love the words! I have no lift, and have Mich touring shoes. I love the handling, but do want a big metal bumper! I do so appreciate a tint strip though, and respectfully disagree. I bought mine used with limo tint and love it, however I miss a tint strip. The windshield was cracked, so they replaced it with no strip. I did not realize how much I missed it, until it was gone. It was like a sun visor that I never had to touch, and could see through. Never the less, great video. Great commentary. Great display of access to the problem. Just great all the way around! Thank you for your time.

These panoramic roofs on ALL vehicle makes are full of it! If it’s not a drain thats disconnected, a drain that’s clogged or roof seals that don’t stick….. they are full of it! The old style sunroofs even though leaked over time, were much better.
@Japplesnap3 жыл бұрын
I don't know....I've had five vehicles now with panoramic sunroofs and never had an issue with any of them.
@volpswagen_marco3 жыл бұрын
@@Japplesnap you must be lucky orrrrr you’re one of those few who know how troublesome these can be and are on top of it. You keep up with their maintenance. I see water leaks from these roofs every single day. Most of the time it’s caused by lack of maintenance…. But sometimes like in Matt’s case…… manufacturing is the problem
@Japplesnap3 жыл бұрын
@@volpswagen_marco I'm probably just lucky. I honestly didn't even consider maintenance. What am I supposed to be doing? Right now we have three vehicles with panoramic sunroofs. A Grand Cherokee, an Audi, and an Acura. No leaks, no issues at all. They open and close as they are supposed to. What else am I missing?
@volpswagen_marco3 жыл бұрын
@@Japplesnap location may be a big factor. If you’re living in a warmer environment where you don’t get snow, there is less chance of the drains getting clogged. Where we are in Canada, the wet winters combined with lack of drain maintenance, causes the drains to fill up with debris, water flows down and freezes, then eventually thaw and the drains back up and water leaks into the cabin. I work for VW/Audi, so let me warn you, these models have little rubber flaps at the end of the drain tubes that stick shut sometimes….. I’d keep an eye out

My 2021 has a similar issue, not as wet. Lots of rain this fall, only leaked twice, when parked backed-in slightly down hill towards front of car. Appointment with dealer is today. They said, oh we might have to keep it a few days. I will just send them this link to show them what to do.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but same problems here with my 2018... still! I also back my truck into my parking spot with about a 5 degree incline. I'm sure this promotes more water Passage to all the wrong spots without drain tubes.🙄 wish I would have seen this video last year.

I'm dealing with this same issue on my 2019. It's at the dealer now and they haven't been able to find the issue. I texted my service advisor to check if the bottom end of the hose is connected.

That happened to me, use a shop vac on the carpet and pad , I was shocked at how much water was in pad. Let it sit in low humidity garage with windows down. Takes a while for it to dry out. Remove that rubber mat , its trapping the moisture.
