Thank you! Perfect solution. No waste/unlikely DIY plug replace undertaking. For anyone finding this, the plug has two fin-like parts beneath that keep it in place when connected; Those are what he is pulling back outward. (The nail clipper is perfect for this) Micro usb is still around here and there, and I have long one that is useful. I had the exact issue and had it fixed. I'm glad to find a fix vs another throwaway, (adding to ongoing waste).

Also there is the dust buildup inside the charging hole of phone and prevents cable pushing in perfectly. With a needle can be scraped gently inside the slot, with care not to touch to hard the contact circuit inside there. With a torch for light to help and scooping dust/filth buildup usually fixes this problems.

Oh, I will try this! I just replaced my cable like two months ago and did not want to do it again. I have a replacement still, but it's a cheaper slower, like an emergency backup. The charging port on my phone is clean so I will definitely see if the "spikes" on my charger are the problem.

Thank you for the tip. I have a USB Micro B which had come loose, constantly loosing connection without coming out completely. I didn't use the nail clippers, just got a sharp needle to prise up the distal end of the clips of which there are two. I found I needed to get exactly straight in front to have the needle catch the clip, otherwise it would easily slip in along side & not effect the clip. Only needed to rais them perhaps half the thickness of the needle with no risk of bending excessively, & that was adequate. Cheers.

Super it really helps! Nail cutter it is brilliant solution! And yes, usually needed to clear hole in the phone from super compressed dust (using little bit cutted toothpick from bamboo).

It worked... Just pull outwards with the nail clippers and with the needle it gives you another angle to finish the job.

T H A N K S . . . Have a Samsung A20, and cable started falling out today! Went looking for replacements, and the such. Then I started looking for causes. Found you. Now my cable doesn't have the two protruding securing tabs, but I thought maybe there is fuzz in mine. Took a flashlight and magnifier, used an old toothbrush to gently brush the inside of both the cable & phone port. Then I took a needle and worked my way around the inside edge of cable & then port. Gave it a good bit of wind, and tried connecting again. I'll be darned if it didn't work! Not extremely snug, but definitely much better. Thanks a bunch . . . Much Obliged! p.s. I'll bet this happens to women, more than men. I have a protective case, but it doesn't cover the port. I'm guessing most women's purses are as "fuzzy" as mine. That is probably the culpret. Ta!

Maybe you had a different issue; The head has two little fin-like parts beneath. They hold the plug in place. Those are what he was pulling outward with the nail clipper, then perfected with the needle. It worked perfectly for mine.

my micro usb clips in just find but you have to angle it to get it to charge and i havnt found a fix so i just cut the heads off my micro usb cables and use them to charge my juuls and wire hit clear cartridges to save on cartridge batteries

who else thought this would work lol. I tried it and it was loose within an hour unplugged it 3 times maybe 4 if you count the test plug in lol and stretched the prong clip things back to grab the plug and the connection was still bad but the plug was tight sooooo not a useful hack.
