I wish I could show you a pic of my husbands hair, some locs have this weird issue with the hair breaking near the top.. I’m not sure what to do or if this method with the crochet hooks would work for him. I’ve been doing his hair for almost a year now and we’ve never had any issues or mess ups.. any tips??

Is the opening of the hook turned up or down can't really see it..I notice u don't stick the tool in the middle of the loc just kinda the top and bottom guess that's where I went wrong is that accurate?

Glad to see your sister is taking better care of her locs - they look great and have grown loads. I'd love to see a timeline at some point! Not sure if this applies to her hair type, but I've read that I (with caucasian hair) shouldn't crochet when it's wet because the hair stretches when wet, crocheting causes it to become tight and when it dries; it will snap. As I say, not sure if this will apply to yours and your sisters hair type though

Thank you and it might . I know when it’s dry too that can cause it to break . I guess it all depends on how you do it . I don’t do this on the regular so I think her locs should be fine lol. But that is a good question.

Thank you, I appreciate it and there’s many brands out there but the size so matter . I believe the 0.5 size . I think it’s the smallest size they have it makes it easier to crochet the hair .

I don’t think it’s breakage; you take care of her hair so good that it is probably mostly new growth.

I said it’s probably breakage because her hair tends to get very itchy in those areas and when she itch them it’s very forceful. I’m not 100% sure what’s causing it but it might be part of it too.

It need the tiny hook at the end to grab a little hair but you can try
