How To Fix Nissan Murano Seat Frame

In this video you’ll learn how to repair the front drivers seat frame in a 2006 Nissan Murano without removing the bottom seat cushion.

We replaced the broken part with one from Dorman. It went pretty smoothly. The hardest part was putting the nuts on the mounting bolts on new part where it is attached to rear of seat frame. You're obliged to push seat padding foam down enough to get fingers in between padding and attachment bolt of replacement piece, then blindly place and tighten nut onto it. You have maybe 1/2- 3/4" of space. 2 bolts on and off probably took 40 mins alone. Total time, 2.5 hrs with frequent referrals to watch youtube vids. The new part fit correctly. Hey, just wanted to thank you, as the others have, for making this vid (and for filming it in a decent resolution so we can actually SEE what you're doing). Made this replacement alot less confusing. Could likely have sussed it out on our own, but this vid made it a TON easier. Couple of notes for folks doing this: 1. The replacement part (ours anyway) was so heavily jappanned (that's the actual name for the black enamel coating) that we had to work the joints loose and hit them with lubrication. Especially the small bits that attach to the seat bucket itself. Make sure you do this before you install it. 2. On those small bastard bolts... we're stupid sometimes, but make note that the 12mm nut is on the UNDERSIDE (top) if the seat foam, ect. As another person pointed out, taking off the seat back (watch those wires) helps you get in under those back corners a hell of alot easier. Anyway, when I first got to that point I was like... uhhhh my bolts are upside down, why am I not seeing a nut? Well, dipshit, because it's on the underside. So momentary panic there. Anyway, about 3 hours worth of fiddly work and it's back better than new. $80 and a few cuts and blood (when do you NOT bleed working on cars?) sure beats $1200 at the stealership. Thanks.

Excellent video, thank you .. had my bracket welded as in the UK, it seemed much simpler .... COUPLE OF EXTRA TIPS .. the two nuts that are under the seat padding and need removing, which RIX is right could be a nightmare :- 1 - Remove the three springs 2 - I used a panel pin hammer and by putting my weight onto the shaft, with the head right into the corner, it easily pushed down the padding and made accessing the nut much easier. Awesome video! I have a 2005 Murano that has the same problem. It’s a travesty that Nissan doesn’t have to do a recall and fix this issue for all of us. Who can we complain to in order to make that happen. I ordered the part on Amazon made by Dorman for $80 and am now looking for a shop to did the work. How much would you say is fair for labor?

I have the same issue, but I just chose to deal with it, since my murano is pretty old now but my seating position is killing me. I might consider replacing the seat with a used one and just use a seat cover.

I did this a couple years ago and must've left off a wire because the seat won't go up & down. I believe I lost a cable. Oh, well, I'm ordering one now, and will fix. I put on the same bracket, it was hot Summer & I messed up. Wish I'd had this video. Good job!

I am trying local Nissan dealers in Western Australia for the part but without success. Can I get this part from anywhere else ? 2009 Murano but it's wobble is between the two pieces of track. I can't see this famous broken piece of thin metal with the bunk weld for the life of me on this particular seat.

You can save yourself a lot of time and scraped knuckles by just taking the four bolts that hold the back of the seat to the frame off and then the 12mm nuts under the seat cusion are a lot easier to get to.

Yes, but make sure that if you do so, the seat back is supported/on a surface, or you have a helper to hold it as there are cables running along the hinge joint and they could be stressed if the seat back drops away suddenly.

Thanks for the great directions.. successfully replaced the broken part on my own, saving $100s. Took a while, but got it done. One more tip: unclip the small white plastic seat covers clips at the rear seat corners near the back hinges will give you more room to depress the cushion and access the two rear inside nuts.

I have 06 Nissan Murano and currently they key wont turn . It started out with battery issues and then what seemed like wiring issues then my ex said that the computer board that is on the drivers side was shorted out by water coming in from the roof. He replaced that and now key wont turn
