I followed this guide exactly but when I got back to the Windows Setup page and selected my USB in the browser, it did not recognize anything. To solve this, what I did was add the entire RTS folder to a new clean USB. then connect both USBs to the new laptop. Then in the Windows Setup page browser I selected the VMD folder and that worked for me.

damn, it worked. PLEASE NOTE: Put the entire RTS folder in the USB, and when searching the drivers, go inside the folders (when installing) until you reach VMD folder and simply select it. It will then show you waht the video show at min 04:16 . Select VMD Controller and then Next. It will load many times (the green bar on bottom) and then you'll see partitions.

It would help to note to copy and paste the whole VMD folder from RST into the flash drive instead of just the IAstorvd.sys. But thanks man your a real life saver. Did not work for my case, but found out that a BIOS setting was on allowing RAID. Flipped that to AHCI/NVMe, and without the drivers was able to see the drives. This is for a Dell laptop, and I have seen this problem on many Dell computers that may have RAID enabled by default. Hope this saves someone hours of struggling :)

I'm sure this comment will help someone! Yeah I've noticed that on DELL laptops and also on the new Lenovo's, VMD is enabled by default, also causing the drives not to be seen by the drivers. I just disable it.

All I can say is THANK YOU!! After looking a many videos and reading a bunch of posts, this is the only one that really worked for me. I had this problem with a Dell computer, and I followed exactly the instructions in this video and at first it didn't work. But just as he says in the video, if it doesn't work then go to the manufacturer and download the correct driver. With Dell the installation of the driver was a little tricky. When I went to extract the actual driver in Power Shell, it didn't work, but Power Shell itself gives you tips to follow, which I did and then it worked just fine. But without the instructions in this video, I wouldn't have gotten it done. Thank you!

Thanks so much it was just what I needed. When I tried to use the first version with the Microsoft download, I put it in a folder named Drivers and copied it to the Windows 11 usb boot drive and it couldn't find the drivers though I could see the Drivers folder. Then I took the drivers out of the folder and put them right in the main Windows 11 directory. Still didn't work but I could see the driver files. So then I went to Asus, my motherboard, to download what I thought would be the necessary drivers and copied them into the main Win 11 directory and finally I got the files you had on the screen. Yay! Thanks for knowing we might need a plan B.

thank you for your help. we had to move the whole RTS folder to the windows install stick, then we were able to select the VMD folder and we could select the driver. We had another problem, that the storage had an MBR partition table. We had to do the following: while the window is open where the installer asks "select the disk on which to install windows": (1) press shift + F10 to open the powershell (2) type in "diskpart" and hit enter button (3) type in "list disk" and hit enter button. > the output should hopefully give you a list of disks with different numbers. our 1TB disk had the number one (4) type in "select disk 1" and hit enter button > make sure to select the correct number from the list disk command (5) type in "clean" and hit enter button (6) type in "convert gpt" and hit enter (7) you can close now the diskpart application and the powershell by typing in "exit" and hit enter twice. After that we were able to continue with the windows installation process. Thank you for the video and for the comments that pointed out that you should copy the whole RTS folder to the usb stick. I hope the next poor soul is able to find this comment.

Please respond I followed this exact guide and most of the steps worked and were very clear up until the last stage where you have to select the Intel VMD driver. I selected the top RST driver as outlined in the video and it seemed to work because the green bar at the bottom of my laptop started loading over and over many times before my laptop encountered a blue screen error; "your laptop has run into a problem and needs to restart." However upon restarting nothing has been fixed. I have no idea what's wrong with my laptop and at this stage any solutions that may help are greatly appreciated.

One thing I can confirm at least for me is that it DOES work on Acer PC's, so anyone seeing this should not be automatically discouraged based on what another commenter here stated. I know for a FACT that my Acer has a proprietary motherboard, and I had no issues. I did read the comments beforehand and copied the entire VMD folder onto the USB haha, so there's that. So we can delete the TEMP and RST folders after we're done, right? This is just a one time thing, correct?

Unfortunately this will not work for proprietary hardware like office computers like Dell or Acer. For these you will need the custom os install disk or iso as trying to do it this way doesn't work due to the proprietary system design, I learnt this the hard way with HP, DELL and Acer office computers as I tried this with all 3 and it never worked. As a result I advise everyone to steer clear of proprietary desktop builds and for laptops to create a recovery disk or usb drive device when you first use it after purchase and keep that labelled device in a safe place.

What computer are you using? If it's a fairly new one, go into your bios settings and disable any settings you see labeled "VMD" - It should work then without even having to install additional drivers.

TLDR: Wasn't driver problem for me, ASUS Tuf Gaming laptop had RAID enabled in the BIOS so I turned it off and the drives came straight up. Disable the Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) technology which is in the advanced settings of the BIOS on Asus laptops and the drives should appear.

Then boot from one, if didn’t solve the problem then restart and boot from another. Didn't work for me unfortunately, but I got sorted by going into BIOS and switching the SATA settings from RAID to AHCI and disabling Secure Boot, which allowed me to see the disk during a Windows 10 install with a bootable USB (made with Rufus). Using Diskpart to cleanup the partitions then installed Windows 10 no issue. This was on a Dell Optiplex 7010 with a 13th gen Intel CPU. Note that this way of installing with completely wipe the disk along with nearly all drivers, I had to use a usb wifi dongle to get an internet connection during setup.

Didn’t work 😢 I tried 10th gen version. Win 10 pro installer wasn’t finding compatible driver in the whole RST folder copied over. I could see some listed when I unticked “show only compatible drivers” and tried one but it didn’t work. My PC is Lenovo C30 Workstation Type 1136 with Xeon E5-1650 v2. Any ideas?

That's unfortunate sorry, you should go to the Lenovo C30 support page and check if they have any storage drivers there, put those on a USB flash drive and see if you can use that during installation. Hope it helps!

Or just turn off rapid Intel storage setting on ur bios save and restart. Then boot from USB again, fixes it 90% of the time.

Did you install Windows to that drive yet? If yes, try and look at your BIOS settings and change settings related to Legacy or UEFI boot and SATA controllers.

Ok my pc had only ssd suddenly it crashed opened bios again and again. I saw ssd is not detecting and bcs only ssd had my os install there I'm unable to do anything can you suggest any help?
