How to fix NVIDIA installer Errors(is not compatible and could not find compatible graphics).

how can you even find your nvidia graphics card in device manager if the nvidia installer said "could not find compatible graphics hardware" meaning the nvidia installer is not detecting the hardware and not even installed yet.

This helped with my issue on 11/19/2020. There is only one bar that you will change instead of three, now. I was so relieved to see that it actually worked, I almost cried. I spent five hours today trying to fix this and this video fixed it in less than five minutes. If you don’t have the file for NVIDIA in your device manager, make sure you have windows updated.

I have a Malibal from 2014 with an 870m (really solid card). I've been stuck on drivers from 2015 because the Nvidia installer would not recognize my video card and wouldn't let me proceed to install the driver. It's been driving me crazy for a couple years, and this video actually fixed it for me. Amazing! Side note: To disable driver signing for Windows 7 you need to actually download GPedit unless you have Pro 7 and up. Googling "how to disable driver signing Windows 7" will yield the information you need, which will involve actually downloading GPedit if you're using Windows 7 Home. It works though, 100% worth the effort.,

I have been searching for a solution to this problem for weeks and finally came across yours. Not sure how you figured this out but it worked. Very impressive!!!! One thing I might mention is after the final reboot my graphics adapter was not detected properly. So I went into Device Manager, removed it, and had it rediscovered. In Device Manager, scroll down to Other Devices, you should find PCI Device. Use the hardware ID from that one and it will work.

Yay it worked, after hours of fixing this issue. This happened because of the 1903 update. The 1st issue was my connection 2nd my gpu. Pc can't detect GeForce 730 but it shows something like VGA compatible. Now after watching this I only changed 1 path in the notepad. After rebooting my pc detected 840m? Which is weird but I updated my gpu now it's back to normal. This guide is really helpful!

Thanks dude. This was the only way to fix i could find on the internet. At least for the error "this graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". I installed the version 397.31. I tried most recent drivers but they gave the error "this nvidia graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows". It didnt resolve in this case cause this error didnt create a folder so theres no nvaci.inf to edit. Anyway, thank you sooo much. Working 25/03/2020

Thanks. Fixed my issue. Had another section in the inf file that yours didn't have. Just copied the id on the 1st line, same as the others. Up & running now. Not a simple fix. Seems strange that Nvidia would allow this bug to continue happening for years (saw posts of this is 2018). Was expecting audio, but just the visual was OK. Really appreciate the fix! Thanks again.

hi, thanks man, it works. this is the problem i found, 1st i cant find the nvidia folders, the solution is don't close the istaller first, just follow the step on video, if you skip it, it wont appear. 2nd was i cant find the nvaci.inf, the solutions is i deleted manually the nvdia folder from C (copy it first on desktop) and the files that cant be deleted just skip it. 3rd was on the video there are 3 times you will paste the file in nvaci.inf, on mine there is just one, so i just copy once and it works. the entire just follow the step on the video. i hope this will help others that facing a same problem like me. again, thanks man.

So, I might follow, implement this procedure & work but, is it really worth it? In my case, I have a pretty decent but old laptop with the 820m GeForce graphics card. Just before I landed on this guide through, I stumbled upon a comment in the NVIDIA forum that stated that they (NVIDIA) had stopped supporting this branch of GPU. Their last compatible driver was 391.35, of which I have. So is it really worth the risk to try a newer driver on an unsupported card? Coz I don't want to screw up something that is working fine at the moment.

At first i think it works and solved my problem but not. I use gt 820m too and after installed ver425 NVIDIA driver, my laptop failed with device identification. So my advice, you should install NVIDIA graphics driver from NVIDIA experience, or from Window's advice for the best fit with your device. I solved my problem by uninstall ver425 driver, and used Window update to find and install, after restarted, my laptop worked normally.
