How to fix P0128 code on Chrysler Town and Country

Hey guys, in this video I'll show you How to fix P0128 code on Chrysler Town and Country. It's very simple fix when you vehicle gets a error code P0128. All that means is you need to replace a thermostat on your car and in this video I'll show you how to replace a thermostat on your car. I replaced the thermostat on my Dodge Grand Caravan which is practically the same as Chrysler Town & Country.

Great video. Just wanted to say to everyone asked about the check engine light, you can get a cheap code reader (under $15) that will let you reset the code then if it comes back you know something is wrong.

Draining about a gallon of coolant from the radiator from the draincock resulted in ZERO mess when I pulled the hose from the t-stat on my 2015 T&C.

Did you have to remove belt or did you do anything to cover it? How do you avoid any coolant going on belt?

No I didn’t cover it and I’m sure I got coolant on it a little bit. But I’m pretty sure it dried up by time I was done with everything.

I don’t think p2122 is a thermostat issue. Just doing some google search it something to do with accelerator pedal position.

This video really needs some improvements: -Draining the coolant the proper way, through the bottom of the radiator, avoids a lot of the coolant mess when removing the thermostat housing. -Removing the hose from the old thermostat housing is much easier to do while the old housing is still attached to the engine. Same with installation. -Torque specs are important, and should be supplied for the thermostat housing bolts. -This will fix the P0128 problem, but it will not turn the check engine light off automatically. Disconnecting the battery will most likely take care of it as long as the problem was fixed. Otherwise a shop will need to plug in and clear it, or a very cheap scantool can be purchased to diy.

Once the problem is fixed the check engine light should go away by itself. Unless you have another problem, then it could stay on.

@qwrt hialname I was told not to disconnect the battery to rest the check engine light. It can cause a damaged to the computer. Once you replace the thermostat drive your vehicle for 50 miles and it will turn off.

Great video, but why not change the antifreeze. You are already changing the thermostat and the antifreeze is cheap.

I guess I kind of changed it since majority of it ran out but I guess ur right I could of let it all drained out and add all new instead of mixing old and new
