Hello, Steve thank you for offering your service. I hope you can help. I have a 2000 Toyota Camry and the engine light is on. I took my car to Auto Zone and P0340 code show as per Auto Zone crankshaft sensor needs to be replace. I replaced, but the light still on. And took back to Auto Zone and shows again the same code P0340. I don't know what to do, can you help me or guide me. I really apreciate your feed back. Thank you

On Toyota Tacoma I had same experience it was the coil in distributor only 4 years old still had old one I took out put it in runs fine 20 year old part still works this new stuff is cheap

Just switched out both camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor. Still getting p0340!

@@nondainc 2008 Chrysler Sebring 2.7L. Intermittent P0340 and traction control light after changing both camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor. Poor acceleration over 80km/h speed, when I press the gas pedal there is a delay to accelerate and when I release the gas pedal the car jolts instead of slowing smoothly.

Hi Zack, please inspect the wiring around the Camshaft Position Sensor and check the voltage if within spec.

@@nondainc ok i'll try that in the next few days and let you know. The ground on my battery will be disconnected while I remove the connector from the sensor. Should I reconnect ground to battery before I use multimeter to test connector?

Hi maybe I am being thick but but Camshaft Position sensor and Crankshaft position sensor they look the same are these two different parts as Method A and Method B the part name in title is different ie Crankshaft position sensor (method A) and Camshaft Position sensor is it the same part? If not then can you please clarify ?

On a PT cruiser ,(2.4) or Dodge ,(2.4,) there's a big difference between camshaft and crankshaft position sensors

Hello, kindly examine the camshaft position sensor wiring for short or check the harness connector if loose/damaged. We also suggest to test the sensor itself to see if the voltage is within specification and find out if it's failing.

got the same code on my 99 Intrepid 3.2 ,Replaced the fuel pump then it started running sluggish,..Check Engine came on,,pulled P0340 code,.gonna do cam and crank sensor tomorrow,.Hoping it's not the alternator (bad diode) as i've heard this throws that code as well.

@@nondainc Drove great and clear'd the P0340 code,..still eating gas,.when while drifting on even ground it shut off,..Gonna try to replace the crankshaft sensor on monday.I think that's been it the whole time.

@@nondainc 3 years ago had all the same simptom's ,replaced the cam and crank had no problems,..my fault for not doing the crank and cam together this time.

@@DemonEmbarasser Yup,,Did the cam and crank,.running alot better,.Next is possibly Catalytic converters ,or fuel injectors,.got 155 on her,.Gets hot on short drives,.doesn't over heat,.Did the pcv valve and Temp sender/sensor last week.,

Sir, its Toyota camry hybrid.. Changed the battery pack along with ACU.. Though car starts for 5 sec and shuts down.. Its giving P0340 error😢

Hi Andrew, please inspect the wires for any issue and test the resistance of the ignition coil if within the right specs.
