ATF ....automatic transmission fluid works wonders on slow leaks for lawn mower tires. Simply remove the valve stem core, use a mustard bottle and squeeze in about four ounces per tire. The chemicals and automatic transmission fluid causes rubber to expand... I've used it so many times successfully I can't even count. ATF is cheaper than any type of fix a flat water based junk you can buy in the store.

Yes, I would jack the mower up a bit and put some air back in the tire and then go through the whole process.

Not a tire tech in the world going to "Rave" about a liquid tire sealant... makes it terrible or impossible to patch the tire or tube it.

I have question. You say you can use it in tires that aren’t flat. What would happen if you do run over a nail after you have put this stuff in? Will it seal itself? I guess my question would be is the stuff still liquid inside for a while or does it harden? I’m guessing if it stays liquid, it should repair the puncture after you pull the nail out. If it hardens inside over time, then can you use it again? Also, I cannot seem to find any websites that will sell it on-line. Do you know where on-line I can purchase it? Thx.

The best way to present a flat tire is to replace it with a new one! When the tire are already cracked it's no point to use tire sealant just to mess up the inside of the wheel so its much more work to get it clean when you finally has to change the tire.

Does this work if the tire was previously treated with another product (Slime, Fix A Flat, etc.)?

It should. I do not think there is anything that would cause it to fail, but I would say if you have previously had a sealant in your tire and it is still losing air that it may be messed up beyond repair.

Id put heavy duty slime in mine. They were 10 years old and badly cracked on the sidewalls and tread. 2 of mine had been going flat and even after adding slime they went flat 2 more times,but after i mowed a few times they started holding air fine. Its been almost 6 months and they e not meeded any more too offs with air

I found Slime to be not nearly as good as Amerseal or Berryman's - same deal with going flat several times. Still beats replacing the tire or patching it.

My lawnmower mechanic says he won't work on a wheel that has sealant in it. Impossible to clean off. Says he just charges to replace the wheel and tire if it has sealant. So it seems cheaper in the long run to put a tube in it if can't be patched or get a new tire. Don't waste your time with a dry rotted tire
