Excellent, hopefully this can help others that had the same problem. One thing I could add is, if you are from a different region ie outside of the us, use the PlayStation site for your correct region otherwise the system may not like the update or initiliaze file.

Hello friend, my PS4 continuously brings me to the “CANNOT START PS4 PLEASE CONNECT THE CONTROLLER TO THE USB AND PRESS PS” despite all my best efforts of updating my system through the internet, rebuilding database and even a PS4 initialization yesterday. Sounds like the hard drive in your PlayStation may be going bad. I would recommend backing up your save data to a thumb drive in case it crashes. You can also try rebuilding the database in your PlayStation, it may help speed it up a little. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4XFq6mdm5t7ftk

I put in a new hard drive, I only have access too “initialize- reinstall system software” and when I press it I can only press cancel or ok and then it gives me an error everytime for the USB. I formatted it, went into disk management and uninstalled shit and even changed the name. It doesn’t give me currpted file anymore it says random fucking error. So I did everything in this video and so much more including downloading from different browsers and different computers, already bought 2 USB’s and I’m not trying to buy a third... what the fuck is going on with this thing, it’s been 2 days of me just trying to research and try it over and over again.

Just got update 9.05 about 2-3 days ago. I’m thinking its bricked, I have the ps4 pro so it comes with the third usb slot in the back. Usb is thick so that’s what I use but it doesn’t read it, plus it gets really hot
