For people who do not work with the method, they have to create a folder called "PS4" followed inside that folder to put another called "UPDATE", ready there put the file they will use, as the boy says they must format their USB in FAT32 format . I hope to help you!

Just like the other comments, make sure you have the file named UPDATE with the installation data inside the folder. Knowing that, make another folder that says PS4 and put the UPDATE folder with installation file inside the new PS4 named folder. It should be able to read it then.

I struggled a lot with this because the official instructions in the sony website tell you to simple put the file in the UPDATE folder, they don't tell you that the UPDATE folder needs to be inside the PS4 folder. Anyway, thank you very much man it worked like a charm.

It finally worked, after weeks of trying to figure this out. The problem was that I had the folder named “UPDATE” and inside was the update file, and the ps4 couldn’t find the file. But when I made a folder named “PS4” and then put the other folder and file into it, it worked immediately. So if you’re having the same problem as me, that’s how you fix it

Everything you said worked except the 1gb download worked as I had to install a new 1tb hard drive. Thank you so much as the format of the USB stick and file names and how to copy to the drive all worked. I tried the smaller and negative results. Started from scratch and this time the full 1GB download worked and we are back on and downloading all saved data. Thanks again!

For those who keep getting the damn "Cannot find the update file" (SU-41350-3) for no apparent reason. You checked the names, the file system, etc. What worked for me is going to Safe Mode (holding the power button until the second beep) and choosing "Initialize PS4" (first option). This ERASES all your games and savings just so you know. I guess I might not have had enough memory for the update to complete or something. Anyway, this is what helped to bring PS4 to life for me.

Check to see also how your computer is downloading it, I kept running into the same issue until I notice one web browser was downloading it as a document and when I tried in another it actually downloaded it as a .PUP file

Just want to let yall know this does not work for everyones ps4 (10.50) update. I did everything right to install this update and its still stuck in the safe mode loop. The support ppl are letting me send it in for fee so they can look at it. Point blank this update turned my ps4 in to a paper wait.... They ARE aware of this issue and im going to hold them accountable for killing my ps4. I had no prior issues with my console and took very good care of it. I have always bought ps and im seriously disappointed. I will try and keep y'all updated on how they fix this issue. I would not be surprised if they just send me a new one....

Always starts off with "Checking the system status...Do not turn off the PS4. After the check has completed, the PS4 will automatically restart". This always stats at 24%. then works its way to 100% at which point it goes to "Cannot start the PS4. Connect the DUALSHOCK 3 using USB cable, then press the PS button. (which I do) At this point (still in Safe Mode), it will say: "Connect a USB storage device that contains an update file for reinstallation for version 8.03 or later. You can download the update file for reinstallation from playstation.com" (which I already downloaded off Sony's site and is on the FAT32 usb drive). two choices: cancel or OK. I hit OK (please wait) Then I get: The update file cannot be used. Connect a USB storage device that contains an update fil for reinstallation for version 8.03 or later. (CE-34788-0)

Hey ive intialized my ps4 twice now and my ps4 is updated to the latest version but the menus are very laggy and games freeze very often, is there a way to revert the software update because this has only started happening after 7.51
