Thanks, this was exactly what i needed. Almost every video covers the pull cord and not this.

Perfect explanation dude! I'll now be able to start my log splitter with the pull cord again instead of a drill!

Bro you're the mvp, I've been looking all day for a tutorial on the pawls and everyone just explains replacing the cord only, now we can finish our power washing job tomorrow!

Same with me too! Everyone seems to just explain the replacement of the pull starter cord which is nice but not the whole explanation which was driving me crazy because those tabs weren't coming out. It turns out I was missing that little spring from the center for when you put the cover back on. 😅

Have spent hours trying to fix this and countless videos and yours figured it out in less than 5 mins ❤❤❤

This video was exactly what I needed. Also, it was quick and to the point. No meaningless fluff building up to the actual info as is the case with many other videos. Great job.

It took me so long to find this video bcuz I didn't even know what those pieces were called, watched so many pulley rope repairs tryna get to this! It couldn't have possibly been explained better! I'm gonna be able to repair this power washer with ease now!

Thank you very much for this video it's been more thana few years since I got this intense in small engines. Mine would not engage the motor turns out it was missing that spring in the center for drag to pop out the catch paws. Thank you again for doing this video

Took my 25 yr old mower out today for the first time this season. It worked perfectly when I put it away last fall but today right at the first pull, it was displaying the condition showing in the video. Pull cord is working perfectly but it seems to be totally disconnected from the mower. I've never taken a mower apart before so I had no clue as to what was bent, broken or missing. After watching your video, I suspect those pawls are my problem. Thanks for the video - can't wait to start the surgery tomorrow morning !!! I realize that machine wasn't a mower - but same principle I would imagine. We'll see what happens !

Good luck w the surgery. Hopefully this solves your issue. Thank you for the view and support.

Thanks! We had a different assembly -- it was held on by a spring and tabs not a bolt -- but thanks to this I was able to get the metal pawls back in place and get it started again.

Thanks! Got a practically new generator with this same mechanism (metal pawls). The pull start hadn't really been used ever, as it's got electric start. So the first time it was actually needed, it didn't work, wouldn't engage. Stripped genny down and found the bolt had unscrewed itself and both the pawls had simply fallen out! So now I'm in a bit of a quandary, do I torque it right down this time, do I use Loctite and torque it like you said, or just put it back without the Loctite? Don't really want to have to do it again, it was P-I-G to get to. At least I know how it should look when it's back together.
@youtubemechanic Жыл бұрын
To be honest over the years I have rarely encountered those bolts backing out so it's not a common thing but it does happen as you have witnessed I suppose a little Loctite couldn't hurt.
