Did you reset your bios to default setting? If so, change everything in settings that is legacy related to uefi only

Thanks, I had already got to the limit of my knowledge with Ctrl alt delete! So glad I found your clear instructions. I was nervous when I saw step 5, but when I removed the casing I realised that one of the components had come loose, I plugged it back in and voila!
