Pro-violinist here, who has had to spend way too much time in front of computers and phones (not my choice, but hey - that’s apparently the new age!..). Been suffering greatly recently, then came across your channel. Your video library is a goldmine. I am in so much gratitude to find it - thank you so much for sharing all of this! I really wish I could have private sessions with you.

Very good and informative video. I would also mention about upper trapezius involvment in scapula winging. Because if upper traps become lenghten and weak and shoulders is dropped down into downward rotation it literally cause winging. That scapula position can also turn off the long thoracic nerve at brachial plexus.

A couple of these exercises I have seen on other videos, but your presentation/explanation/editing is spot on. Easy to watch, not too long, good quality video, love it.

I liked watching your video and look forward to trying the exercises. My left shoulder has had the problem and nothing was helping until I took Heal and Soothe. It allowed my shoulder to heal. It doesn't hurt to open my truck door from the inside anymore. I think I would benefit from these exercises, so I will be back to watch this again. Thanks for making it.

Great question! It really depends, everyone has different degrees of winging so what I suggest my clients is to do them daily for best results and to build up the strength as they start to get easier.

Can this issue possibly cause pain that radiates all the way to the bottom of my foot?
@bbetros3 жыл бұрын
Hello, so my shoulders feel pretty unstable and are internally rotated. Also my thoracic spine is prett rounded. By doing these serratus anterior exercises, since I'm suppose to bring the scapula forward, will that increase the rounded shoulders issue or does that correct that ? Thanks and great video
@JessicaDudas3 жыл бұрын
Great question! As long as you keep your thoracic spine stays in neutral it won't increase the curve. It's tough for sure, so what I suggest is working on thoracic extension mobility exercises as well to help this. I made this video a little while back so this will be helpful for you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/al7JkGuId71ooJo

How much take for time fixed winged scapula?
@bhavyashah12843 жыл бұрын
Depending upon how bad it is , but in general it takes 2-3 years and sometimes 4 !
@rasmusberg88733 жыл бұрын
@@bhavyashah1284 are u sure? If u are working out i think it will go a lot faster, if you work out the serratus anterior for a year i think the shoulder blade would stick to it and stop from sticking out, but idk

Hey I have osteochondroma at my inner scapula ! Is this gonna work?
@JessicaDudas3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say! Depends on the size and the location if it's structurally blocking the shoulder blade from come closer to the rib cage then it most likely it won't fully retract, but as long as the exercises don't cause you pain you can always strengthen the shoulder girdle which will help your stability! Strengthing the shoulder never hurts! Hope this helps😊!

did it go away?
@racsan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maayan, I had this issue when I was 15 years old, took me 1 year of focused exercises to get better. I was fine for the rest of my life until I got it again last year I'm 33 years old now. The reason I got it again was because I forced the muscle too much after not having exercised it for a while. So you can get scapular winging again the same way someone would have it for the first time. The main thing to keep in mind is to always exercise this muscle, even when you don't have Scapular winging anymore.
@ylmldjaoxjskcnd17353 жыл бұрын
@@racsan thank you! I’ll keep that in mind(:
@d.j.wellington3 жыл бұрын
@@racsan How do you exercise it? (How did you?)
@racsan3 жыл бұрын
@@d.j.wellington well, the first time I got it the problem was in the long thoracic nerve en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_thoracic_nerve . This was discovered when I had a doctor test the nerve with electroneuromyography (enmg). Because the problem was in the nerve I couldn't lift my right arm for more than 30 seconds as it would get unresponsive and tired. The exercises I had to do were related to TENS (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcutaneous_electrical_nerve_stimulation) using shocks to get the nerve back in action (took 6 months). Then the focus was on the serratus anterior muscle, exercises were very similar to what Jess is doing here in her video and after 6 months I started to use elastic bands (push/pull movements with shoulder protraction reach), pushup plus and face pulls. It takes a lot of patience and time, but the muscle becomes responsive again. Sorry for the long text :( Note that the main thing is to get diagnosed by a professional first, a physio or a doctor, as scapular winging could be caused by many different reasons. I hope this helps!
