WOW! I've been searching for something like this, I always leave a nick somewhere on my lower builds or when adding a new accessory no matter how careful I 'am or how much painters tape I use. that stuff was like magic, I usually use a sharpie but it only last for a few days, this is gonna help my OCD! 🤣🤣👍

In the military, we could fix scratches and shiny spots on the upper, but we couldn't do it on the lower. Though we had dry film lubricant spray that was the perfect shade for the Colt M16A1. The spray was from Plasti Kote. It's like spray on Parkerizing. Great stuff!

I know this is way late, but for anyone watching this now, USE GLOVES! There are warnings all over the product that it is corrosive and not to let it contact your skin...bro was rubbing that shit in with his finger, ugh! FWIW, it also says to use eye protection...can't imagine what a drop would do to your eyeball.

thank you, I was using a brass pick with a brand new AR, later noticed in some bright light what I thought were scratches, which confused me. Nope. After reading your comment, just brass marks.
@BigJKtm6 күн бұрын
Would it be recommended to maybe degrease the area first? I also saw another video where the gentlemen applied just a little heat using a small torch, his explanation was that it helps to open the pores just about to allow the chemical to penetrate better. Thanks for the video though.

If you mark up your bolt catch area, you a need a flat punch, Brownells has them for $6, or use electrical tape to protect the area

Do you have to wipe it off with water??. What will happen if you don’t wash it off with water? Will it rust? Thank you
@raganwaites71072 жыл бұрын
This was a question I have as well. I have used this and the directions say to rinse with cold water, but every time I rinse it takes it right off. If I don't rinse like the guy in the video, it works a lot better. It's supposed to cure over night and oiling it. My guess is the directions say to rinse to make sure excess is off, but I don't know. In my experience this stuff works best for more noticeable scratches like the ones in the video. if there are scratches that you can only really see when the lights hit is just right, then they seem to be more difficult to get rid of using Aluminum Black...might have to use it multiple times. If you oil it after wiping off the Aluminum Black it shouldn't rust, but I still wish I knew why the directions say to rinse with cold water.

I just scratched top of the slide of a new pistol installing rear sight, the tool bit a tiny corner of the sight ramp but it shines like a sun because the aluminum was exposed; would this fix that or at least would make it look not so obvious; i was royally pissed off, used that tool before and no issues but this time miscalculated and damaged the slide and the tool which is the P500 Pro Universal Sight Tool; GARBAGE, hard to work with and I ended up scratching the firearm, cant remember how much I paid for it but will sell it ASAP.

Interesting note about touching up scratches during servicing; do you get owner permission prior? I only ask this because I was a professional luthier for many years and it is fairly common in the industry to clean fingerboards, fretboards, and the instrument body while servicing. Over the course of 40 years servicing instruments the master luthier stopped this practice as some people will actually get very upset if you wipe away their years of grime buildup 🤮 If I wasn't training as a gunsmith and I sent my rifle to someone for servicing, I would actually be sad if they touched up the scratches I have on my rifle. Each scratch is the culmination of years of 90lb 7+ mile rucks over mountains and across deserts 😅
