I bought a 1969 MGC GT in 1970 while working for a BMC dealership in Monterey, Calif. Mine was Mineral Blue, Automatic Transmission and a Factory installed sun roof. One of the simplest things to improve handling on a stock MGC was increase the tire pressure by 5 pounds. Remarkable improvement. I miss that car. I currently have a 63 B and looking for another C.

Quite so - I thought it was well known the press cars had wrongly inflated tyres. Improvements are great, but change the pure character of original machines, although the Cs steering was indeed a work-out. Happy hunting for a good C - their prices are quite steep now, which is why I recently bought a '72 BGT.

What sort of MPG do you get with three side draft carbs, Could you fit some sort of fuel injection for the same cost ?

About the motor, was it a short stroke design ? How many main bearings did it have ?

8 main bearings, very smooth. 9.1 compression.

Not sure about this - if you want speed & handling etc, buy a hot hatch. If you want an MGC, drive an MGC

Upgraded, this vehicle is a blast. I've had mine up to 128 mph. In a car this small it's as intense as almost anything, lol.
