I am 80 kg, length 6'3 (190 cm) , 60 years old, and have to eat at least 3200 kcal per day in order to not loose weight. For gaining weight (aiming at gaining muscle primarily) I have to eat 3500 kcal (including at least 200 gram protein) or more per day. However to be honest putting on muscle is getting very difficult, despite doing heavy resistance training consistently 5 days a week for more than 10 years already ....

if you increased the protein you may find even better results, as Protein is more satiating and your body uses more energy to process it. A recent study of increased protein to 3x your body weight in grams showed more muscle mass and a leaner physique while on a slight deficit. Thermodynamics of increased protein shows nit not all sources of Macros calories as being equal. Its not as simple as calorie in calorie out. Protein can also play a great role in metabolism and energy expenditure of your body.

OK, so here's what I did over the last couple of weeks...I was on a low calorie intake per day (1,800) to try to get rid of that bloomin' belly fat. I'm 14st 12lbs. For weeks that weight has been up and down a couple lbs in either direction. So I increased those calories to about 1900 per day, my weight training didn't change and my exercise didn't change but I put weight on, about 5 lbs. I'm worried if I keep up increasing my calories to over 2000, I'll pack on even more weight. I didn't notice a change in my body shape, in fact, I felt and noticed my stomach was bigger. I'm 55 yrs and I'm kind of happy with the my shape...I've been training for about 6 years and without sounding like a right big head, my shape is quite good, I've got all the lumps n bumps in the right places...but it's just my stomach where those lumps n bumps appear when I increase my calories....Breathing in all day isn't doing me any good LOL!!! Any ideas you healthy lot?!

I'd say if your eating mostly carbs for those extra 100 calories you eat it will just be water weight. Either up your steps/cardio duration or drop cals by 50 then leave it a week or so and access... if no movement on the scale drop by another 50 as long as your protein intake is sufficient you wont lose muscle. It just takes alot longer than you think losing that last bit... in the end you will be sick of dieting hence most cant maintain it as your cals will be very low.
@georgegeorgiou291511 ай бұрын
Thanks Peter. It's a right game this weight stuff, eh. I wanna lose the belly blubber so I cut right down for weeks and still I stay the same, I eat less, train hard and do daily cardio. So I increase slightly and I look like I'm smuggling a wok under my T shirt 😂😂😂😂😂 I'll just need to play around with my calories and cardio.... You're right though, this isn't an overnight thing is it!
@peterbutler3911 ай бұрын
@@georgegeorgiou2915 It is... Especially if your not enhanced in anyway you wont hold as much muscle as enhanced lifters will... the only way to get the scale to move is to lower your calories further or increase the cardio duration... and give it more time... like i said when you get there you will be surprised at how low your calories will be... if you want that really low body fat... i'm 5ft 6 and had to diet from 15 stone to 10 stone just to see my abs and even then i still had fat in places... my calories at the end of my diet where 1500 cals mostly eating protein and fats with some carbs too. Everyone is different so you might not have to go that far. Good Luck!

The misconseption portrayed is that their big muscles were as a result of the protein powder but the truth of the matter is the biggest contribution to their look is the drug use.

I don’t get these data points. 2400 cals? I gain on that. I have a pshysically demanding job and i lift 3-4 times a week and i am barely losing weight on a 1700 cal.
@usrIO30581l3 ай бұрын
2400 calories is based on his idea weight, height (11 cal x 220lbs body weight) 1700 maybe lower than recommendations, this causing stress body metabolism causing the body shutdown to reserve energy(fat). 2000 calories is ideal if maintaining normal body functions, such thinking immune system, growth repair, organ functions. It’s like an engine needing fuel for right distance (body and energy to keep a healthy body). If the engine shutdowns you body becomes saturated with storage energy turning to water weight. That’s why low impact workouts like walking can activate your body but doing it on too low calorie intake can be drastic, depending height weight caloric demand. 1700 calories is for person of frame idea of 150-170lbs body weight. But if your goal is 150lbs and don’t want to look skinny fat that depends on quality of calories. Go intermittent fasting and high protein, veggie/ salad as your carbs keeping low carb diet. And good in fiber and nutrients for proper organ to hormone levels. Good carbs are from the ground not process.
@usrIO30581l3 ай бұрын
That’s why i do intermittent fasting (16-8hrs fast), with for 2 -4 meals a day at lunch to 6-8pm at the most. And keep protein high, fats to carbs moderate low. With enough carbs and fat you wouldn’t need too much protein. But good quality of raw foods.

@@andypicken7848 That is absolute bs. You'll gain f*ck all as a natty training x2 a week. This why most ppl stay small because they follow bs programs.
