Thank you so much man! My friend and I just fixed my trunk because of you!! I can't thank you enough. The job was pretty easy my problem was one of my teeth on the green rotator was shifted out of placed after I slammed my trunk really hard (on accident). So I used Krazy Glue with a tooth pick to get right under the tooth and pressed it back into place. Thank you and for anyone out there that is unsure whether or not they can fix it, GO FOR IT!! I believe you can do it and save yourself some $$$.

I had the same problem with the latch. It is outregeous that Nissan wants $317 for the actuator unit when the only problem is a plastic gear that could cost at most $5. I fixed the problem by removing the faulty tooth gear, filling up the space with JB Weld, letting it dry, then applying super glue, letting it dry. Then I used a x-cato knife with a metal ruler as a guide and a small file to carve the tooth. It is working so far. Don't know for how long. Meanwhile I was checking the internet for the actuator and found it NEW for $148.95 on e-Bay. I bought it anyway just in case my repair doesn't last. I found a used one cheaper on e-Bay for $90 but I didn't want to buy it used because I can't know the condition of the gears. I didn't want to take the chance of buying it to then break again few month later.

As for broken teeth, You super glue and immediately dip it into baking soda. You're going. To need a small file to make / shape the teeth.

Hi Very helpful. Unfortunately did not fix mine. Intermittently hatch would not open. Took mechanism out and tried - motor moved slightly. Bad point on commutator on motor. Pliers on motor shaft and pull motor out. It slides on white plastic pillar. Prize motor apart. Careful not to drop the small bronze bearing in the bottom housing. - just sits there. Put motor shaft in drill and polish commutator with bit of super fine grit wet and dry. Brushes are fixed on little brass springs. Tighten them up a bit and re assemble. Use needle to open up the brushes to get over end of commutator. Use pliers to bend metal lugs to hold cap in place. refit and all done. Mine been OK for several weeks now.

Do u know if/where theres a fuse for the trunk? I tried this, diddnt work hooked it up to a power supply the actuator works fine. So from the button to the wiring something isnt working. The lock button on the truck wont work either so im assuming its a fuse, cant find anything online

blair wagner, hi, no I didn't. Can't find anything on it apart from loose wiring, which it can't be as it opens with central locking. It's a mystery. I have ordered a key fob with trunk button from eBay to see if that works. I will keep you posted. Jp

hello blair wagner. update... i cannot sync the new key fob for some reason, but today by some strange miracle by trunk is back to normal and opens from the rear switch. must be a loose connection somewhere that I couldn't find. Some "spirited" driving may have shook up the wires a bit. ;)

How do I get into my trunk after trunk release actuator has failed on 2004 Nissan 350z enthusiast convertible? I checked all the fuses and relays there all good it's stuck in the lock position to where I can't get inside the trunk.

Mord Fustang I'm Shure there is no spare balls on sale, most likely you need to buy whole actuator. Anyway, you can restore damaged ball with a glue gun, and turn it around with undamaged side to the lever. Hope it will help
