It's only gotten worse. In fact I watched this thinking it was about season 7 and 8. The stuff he is covering isn't even half as bad as what they are doing now. I'd kill for them to have these problems again over how bad it is now

I get your initial assessment of Carol but the reason she wants to give up while being shot at on the side of the road is because she hates what she has become. The entire thing has made her a cold killing machine. Even when she morally no longer wants to kill her conditioning makes her do otherwise and she's hit a real point in the life span of any soldier who fights long term where they burn out. Seems contradictory but that's the point. They are experiencing various forms of PTSD and are behaving irrationally in a pretty insane world.

NTU I agree with your point but I think it was handled terribly. She just grew a conscience over night and it felt very contrived, like the writers just said “it would be so dramatic if we made Carol this tortured soul character after all the shit she’s done!” instead of “oh, this is a natural progression she as a person could have.” Which it could be! But they did it wrong.

I would actually love it if Daryl died. Not that I ever hated Daryl, but it just.... It makes a character more human to me if they die. I love it.

I legitimately want Daryl to die. His character has no reason to exist other than to provide obnoxious fan-service. There's nothing particularly interesting about him as a character.

Kristian J. Initially, (to me) he was some badass dude that you thought was going to carry the team through survival. I loved that he used a crossbow, as it made him unique, and the actor just fits the character. Then all the fan service BS ruined him, and he’s just as worthless as everyone else.

These, in my opinion are the things they need to do in order to fix the show: - Cliffhangers that don't disrupt the scene and instead just get you excited to come back after the commercial and/or the next episode. - Better choreography - A higher budget - Make conversations more realistic and human. Right now, everyone talks as though they are reading poetry and are trying to be too philosophical. - Make their messages more subtle and not so on the nose. - Better the pacing and limit down the episode count to 13. - Make character decisions consistent to what that character has been built up to be. Don't have characters make dumb decisions only for them to not learn from their mistakes and to make the same mistake. - Stop having the show be PG-13. Bring back the gore. - Make the entire end goal of the show clear so the audience knows we are going somewhere and will eventually come full circle. There is no end in sight currently. - Switch up the character and moral dilemmas and bring in new philosophical questions instead of just, "should we kill, or should we not kill?" - Make the walkers and the rules of the walkers consistent. It's been 7 seasons since the rules of the walkers have been established, and back then the walkers acted different anyways. I think it is time for reestablished rules, and they should be stuck to. - Episodes should stand on their own, rather than feeling like nothing happens and it's just a small chapter of a bigger story. Have there be plot progression. - Make Negan a more fleshed out human being. - Show how people get out of unrealistic situations. - Reinvent and/or further develop characters that haven't progressed in a while. - Maybe have flashbacks to spice up the show. I feel like all this change will lead to a better and more improved Walking Dead.

My Problem with the Show is.... With killing Glenn they killed the show and Negan was a character that annoyed me af. With his overall 'look how bad I am muhaahaha' attitude and monoloques. No character is important to me anymore because they are killed off and there is no main cast anymore. So why should I care. And the story repeats itself over and over again. They find Shelter, everything is fine, oh no a villain... Zombie attack, end. The zombies are not a threat anymore. the group has become to powerful. They even were the bad guys at some point. Watching this is frustrating... And I am not looking farward to the next season with everyone gone except Michonne. I would like to watch them build a new society. A town that holds up to attacks. I want to see how all the different groups interact and deal with each other. How they hunt and go collecting things a make up new strategies to trick the zombies.... The things I wanted to see happend off-screen and now all groups hate each other mimimimi ... No thanks.

Znation has much better pacing. Each season finishes a story arch more or less albeit leaving it a ckiff hanger. Either way, the beginning of each season finishes the cliffhang and starts another arc. Each episode has a focused arc. The irony is the show exists almost as a satire of WD.

I would love to hear your take on the whole Beth & the hospital business. To me, this was the point I was scratching my head and screaming "What was the point?!" I mean none of that made any sense whatsoever! Did we see all that so Beth could die? So we could add Noah? What did Beth understand right before she stabbed officer Ratchet with the teeny scissors? Right then I wondered what the writers were doing. I do disagree with you about Morgan's flashback. The guy with the goat was interesting & cool. I genuinely hated his death.

The walking dead is my favourite show but I will admit it has problems and this is how I will fix twd though remember I know I can’t do better then amc Firstly I wouldn’t have killed Merle when they did and instead have him survive and become one of ricks most trusted allies until season seven where he would die in Abraham’s place more later. I would have had Merle have to take care of sick Glenn in season four part two and learn to trust the people that Daryl loves Next I wouldn’t have killed Abraham the way they did I would have had Negan see him as a strong provider and sent him home with the rest. Choosing instead to kill Merle which would affect Daryl later on. After this Abraham would blame Rick for their deaths and leave Alexandria after fighting with Rick about fighting back against the Saviors and he would live in a log hut for the rest of the season maybe blaming himself for Glenn and Merles death and refusing to go back Next might be controversial but I think Sasha should have been killed off instead of Tyreese over her guilt with Bob Stookey and completely remove the Abraham, Rosita and Sasha love triangle which in my opinion is the worst subplot in the entire shows run though I do understand why they chose to keep her because Sonequa Martin-Green is an excellent actress and played the part perfectly Moving on to Tyreese though he was amazing in the comics and never reached that point in the show he still had so much potential and could have probably been a key player in helping convince the kingdom or Oceanside or maybe he is made a general in the militia and goes down in battle against Negan or Simon in season 7 or 8 Next is Beth who I will explain alongside Noah who became friends after being enslaved by the police of Grady memorial hospital and while Beth died then I would have had Noah die in her place to prevent her from having to go back and putting Beth in depression which she is helped out of by the rest of the group and finds Noah’s book on architecture and becomes an architect who makes weapons to fight against Negan and helps the expansion of Alexandria while becoming a badass with a soft side maybe taking care of hilltop in season 9 after Maggie leaves and making her one of the longest running characters on the show maybe she wears a ponytail or suspenders to subtly honour Hershel Next is Tara who isn’t many’s favourite including mine because I hated her. I think she should have died at the prison while her sister Lily escapes with Merle and Glenn making her arc she has to make up for all her mistakes as she isn’t fully trusted and maybe she gets Sasha’s death in the coffin which finally makes up for all the wrong she did and even maybe before she starts a relationship with Tyreese who Negan kills later in the show Next is an unusual one but I would have kept shiva the tiger around a bit longer and instead of being killed by walkers she is killed by getting her head smashed in by Negan while saving Ezekiel from the same fate which pushes Ezekiel further into battle with the Saviors and Carol has to stop him which closes her arc as well because I wasn’t much of a fan of Ezekiels depression arc and as I said earlier this arc would have been given to Noah. Next is Dwight who I loved in both twd and Ftwd but I feel as if he could have been pulled back in twd in season 9 or 10 after finding out sherry is with the whisperers as a follower or prisoner and maybe he will meet back up with Negan and Daryl while undercover Next Enid who I think had a poor death which should have been given to someone else like Alden because she was Carl’s girlfriend and now with her, Rick and Siddiq all gone it feels as if Carl’s death was pointless and maybe she becomes a blacksmith apprentice like Alden and ends up taking care of Adam after Earl dies when she goes after Beta and he protects her Next is Jesus who I don’t have many ideas for and feel as if they should’ve killed off someone else like Rosita instead and Jesus becomes more like how he was in the comics and guides Daryl and Michonne in season 9 and 10 Next might be controversial but I think Dale should have lasted until season 5 where he died convincing Rick to give Alexandria a chance or maybe in the death that Noah got but I can see why he left and I don’t blame him though if he stayed he might get mentally ill or have cancer before dying to a walker bite while saving Aaron while they were in the forest Next is Gabriel who I actually rather liked apart from the newer season where he leads Alexandria and his relationship with Rosita who stays with Abraham and instead he keeps his only eye on the trading routes and who is trading what and who is going where. Things like that. Finally is Heath who I know why Cory Hawkins left for another show but if he stayed around he could lose his leg during the war and starts to feel useless and like a burden maybe he gets addicted to painkillers and becomes friends with Siddiq who is killed by Dante causing Heath kill to kill Dante while the others want to keep him for information on the whisperers Storylines like Andrea Lori and Carl are ok to me so I wouldn’t change them So for the full story I would leave the show pretty much the same until season 2 where the episode “judge jury and executioner” never happened though it is one of my personal favourites and while they do debate over Randall and they decide not to kill him but the rest of the season goes the same way but with Dale still alive meaning Shane and Sofia both die and they leave the farm. The next big change is at the prison with Dale having a subplot where he struggles with mental health over thinking Andrea is dead and the season goes on as it did except for this subplot. The next change is Merle where he still joined the governor and betrayed him for Daryl and soon attempted to give Michonne to the governor like in the show but instead we have him stop the car at the top of a hill overlooking the dropoff point and decides not to surrender and instead goes back to the prison to prepare for a fight. The next big change is at season 4s mid season finale where Hershel dies, Meghan dies, the governor dies but the big change is that lily and Tara swap places and Tara dies causing Lily to lock herself in a cage for safety and is saved by Merle and Glenn later on the next half is the same but with the change of Tara and Lily and the inclusion of Merle and Dale. Next in season five Bob does the same way as in the show and they find out where Beth is at the hospital where Noah escapes while Beth is captured and he meets the rest of the group to get Beth back but when Dawn decided to kill all of them instead of negotiate she points her gun at Beth and Noah stabs her causing her to shoot him and motivating Daryl to kill Dawn and bury Noah. Later on it is revealed Beth found Noah’s notebook about architecture and a map to his home which is destroyed like in the show and up until now Sasha has been acting out and let’s a walker kill her like Carol in the comics and closes Tyreese off from the rest of the group. Dales health has gotten worse and he starts randomly rambling for the past few episodes and the group still meets Aaron like the show they don’t trust him and gets trapped by a horde in a forest causing Dale to be bit saving Aaron and asking Rick to give Alexandria a chance before being put down by Glenn. Next the group reach Alexandria and the season goes on as it did with Morgan’s return also being built up. Season six also goes the way it did with a he’s wolves and the mega herd in Alexandria. Season 7 is a big change though seeing as how it is possibly the weakest season ever and starts off with Negan killing Merle causing Daryl to punch Negan and Negan to kill Glenn and take Daryl. Carol and Morgan’s arc at the kingdom is the same and Abraham blames Rick for getting Merle and Glenn killed before leaving for a while. Heath still goes on the scavenger trip in season 6 to 7 except it is with Lily and they both find Oceanside and decide not to tell the others about them. When they return they are mad about Negan and Lily decides to go kill him herself like Sasha and the rest of the season is really much the same. Season 8 is an underrated season and I wouldn’t change much except for Shiva surviving longer and Negan killing her causing Ezekiel to want revenge which kills Tyreese in the process and Carol talking from experience to calm him down and Carl still dies in the mid season finale and the plot with the scavengers is still there and Rick still lets Negan live angering Maggie Season 9 is one of the best seasons so I only have a few changes including all of Rosita’s relationships and staying with Abraham, Gabriel doesn’t lead Alexandria and instead focuses on trades, the arc with Daryl looking for Rick and the whisperers are still there and instead of Enid’s head on a pike it is Alden which gives her a sisterly relationship with Lydia later on and Jesus never died and becomes the final moral compass and has a relationship with Aaron and the plot with the new group is still there. Season 10 is one of the best seasons of tv I have ever seen but there are a few changes I would make like Heath and Siddiq being close and Heath losing it when Siddiq dies or Earl dying when Enid goes after alpha so she looks after Henry and finally I would have made the finale something that implies Rick is alive like a sign on a wall or tree that says “we’re the ones who live” references Michonne’s quote or “my mercy prevails over my wrath” which references his victory in season 8 or my personal favourite “we are the walking Dead” which references season 5 in the barn

You've made some really good points. I don't mind the show and I do hope it can find a way to fix the problems it has. I suspect the filler plot lines and refusing to finish a story within a season is due, at least in part, to a desire to subvert exceptions. I can appreciate that. However, 'The Walking Dead' appears to have rapidly replaced old expectations with new one's. Rather than getting rid of those filler plot lines, it might be nice if there was more at stake in them. Subplots need not always directly interact with the main plot, so long as it plugs into its overarching themes.

*This doesn't just go for The Walking Dead.* This perfectly describes the shitiness of modern cinema. We live in the age of best technology so far yet films these days just have terrible writing. This comment deserves more likes. Especially in shows/movies as big as The Walking Dead shit tends to get fucked up due to them relying too much on the special effects and visual aspects which is when writers get lazy, then (in cases like twd) greedy ass people worry more about what gets them more money without really caring how it affects the story. Such as, underpaying cast and crew, killing off characters for shock value, unnecessary cliffhangers etc etc

Given how AMC has handled The Walking Dead, since firing Darabont for no fucking discernible reason (the man who made Shawshank Redemption), there's very little hope that the show will get any better, and it hasn't since this video. The most prevalent current problem, to my understanding, is that AMC management holds such a strong insistence on extending the series' length from the originally intended 6-8 episode plan (which was clearly ideal, in terms of pacing, in season 1), to 16 episodes per season, which is clearly absurd, as the writers are forced to implement so much useless content. There are several episodes that I believe are complete wastes of time in each episode (so much so that they almost shouldn't even exist). The worst ones are the ones which dedicate the entire runtime of the episode to just a single character, without ever changing perspective; these episodes drag and drag on with no sense of progression. Finally, there are the somewhat decent episodes which hold interesting moments, but are only so because of how much they make you think, "Jeez, there's so much potential here!", but you ultimately realize that it's wasted. I hate when a story insists on separating character-development from the plot; the two should ALWAYS go hand-in-hand. TWD is the worst example, I can think of in recent years, of which commits this "literary sin".

NOT TO WASTE YOUR TIME but which parts of the show do you believe are better than the comics? Personally I enjoyed the season four storyline provided by the show (unlike a lot of people, I know) BUT the development of the prisoners living in the prison prior to the groups arrival could have been a GREAT thing for show writers to use

Its a pretty repetitive show. I watched all the way till episode one of season 7. By that time there was tremendous fatigue. I was bored of it. Every season the same thing, they go to a new place, stay there for a while and then a bad guy causes the place to get overrun by zombies or something and then they slowly walk to a new location. The show was Awesome when it began and then immediately in season 2 it lost its momentum with that slow ass farm season.

To the point of Tara and character development specifically, it's possible Tara's story is relevant to plot because she was the point of contact for the Rick group to the seaside group? Without the knowledge Tara provides that this group exists and has a well stocked armory, as well as potential for an alliance to be formed, the furthering of Rick's agenda to restock their weapons and find more allies to beat Negan basically dies off. If this is the case could this episode still be considered filler? It seems as though your argument is for the show to follow more closely to the graphic novel, rather than the show is playing too loose and fails to service the plot more often than not. This is just how it comes across to me, not a criticism or anything just an observation. Love the content however! Wish I could hear your dialogue a bit better though, I noticed that in a few other videos the dialogue wasn't quite hot enough. The vocal mix between your dialogue and background music seems well balanced, just not quite loud enough.

Gotta say, I almost completely disagree with you on every major point you bring up. To break it down: Your first point regarding character consistency, namely involving Carol, you argue that her character starts out simple: from an abused wife, to a mourning mother, then to a killing machine. When she starts to falter in her ways, bouncing back and forth between times of heroism and weakness, you claim that her character lacks consistency. However, I feel that a major fault in your analysis on Carol's character completely misses the point that Carol is meant to be a broken mess. Her background prior to the apocalypse marks the first element in Carol's character - obedience and reliance upon an abusive husband. When her husband is killed, she places all of her energy into her daughter Sophia, but once she's killed off, she's left with nothingness. Sometime after Sophia's death, Carol is undoubtedly filled with anger; anger towards the living her entirely life with seemingly no purpose. Because of this, she reaches towards the opposite extreme of taking everything into her own hands, regardless of whether she should or not. The moment where she has to kill Lizzie is when this facade of power starts crumbling down, and she begins to question every choice she's made. Many people feel as though Carol's character is completely different from her comic counterpart - but that's actually false. In the comic, Carol is definitely mentally disturbed, and even suicidal (thus leading to her death in the comic), which is the path that her television version encompasses completely. She has a fight/flight response like any other person, which is why she fights as much as she can when faced with death. But the moment she thinks there is no hope, she embraces it. Moreover, you completely skip over Morgan's influence over Carol's beliefs over the course of Season 6, leading to her to wanting to get away from anything that could create violence in her life. Your analysis over Carol's character is certainly flawed, because it seems like you want to pick apart her character, without actually taking into account the events in her life that have shaped her into becoming a broken mess. Your next major point: Filler episodes. I'm not sure how you're making this an argument, but it is ridiculous (to say the least). Literally every element that TWD introduces into the show comes into play sooner or later throughout the story. With regards to Morgan's flashback episode, that is perhaps the only true episode where one could skip and not miss "much", but it explains a hell of a lot of why Morgan acts the way he does. As for disrupting the flow of the season - I couldn't disagree more. Having multiple, interwoven plots that unravel and connect near the end is part of the reason why I love this show. Not every "sub"plot appeals to everyone - and that's understandable. But to claim that it interrupts the flow seems more like a statement that you have trouble following along, as opposed to having a staggered pace. "As it stands, each season seems to have no arc" - I'm sorry, but that's absolute bullshit. Especially since you name each arc directly after your claim. Yes, not everything gets resolved within each season or half-season, but that's an element I love about the show. It doesn't feel the need to contain each story within an arbitrary mark (and is completely irrelevant when it comes to watching the show from start to finish) - it keeps people on their toes. You then go on to discuss why half seasons are arbitrary...but then why does that matter to you? It seems that you'd benefit if you just sat down and neglected to think about the arbitrary labels rather than harping on them. "The show is so terrified of losing viewers that it doesn't even finish a story before the next one is introduced" - so you're complaining about cliffhangers? I truly don't understand why people have such an issue with cliffhangers. Does it suck to wait? Sure! But it's incredibly rewarding once you get to that resolution. Overall, it seems like you're one of those viewers that could find anything to hate within the show, regardless of any reason given why.

He didn't hate on it in anyway. He's didn't glorify it either, which really seems to bother people like you everytime someone has a non biased view on the show.

I'm not asking for him to glorify the show - I'm just offering rebuttals to his (in my opinion) flawed arguments. Of course, it's easy to claim that I'm biased because I have a differing opinion instead of addressing the arguments I've provided.

I never understood why people liked this show from the get-go... It is ridiculous. Terrible story that was overused years and years ago. Calling dialogues unrealistic is an understatement. This isn't a show that was good and than became bad, it was bad from the begging.
