How did you fit the engine and transmission between the frame rails and spot-welded brackets on the driver's side (under the inverter)? Did you remove the crank pulley? Did you tilt the transmission/power split device downward and slip that side under the frame rail before lowering the engine? I really do not want to try to line up the transaxle to the engine in the car - it was enough of a pain in the shop. But I am having trouble clearing a fuel line on the driver's side, AC lines on the passenger side, and the intake manifold brackets on the firewall.

As I recall it was pretty easy. Remove as much as you can and it slid in. This model doesn’t have a transfer case so I didn’t have any other problems.

I am ready to install the new engine... can I completely assemble the timing belt cover and engine mount or do I have to wait until the enfgine is installed to complete the timing belt cover and engine bracket? Thank YOU!

Yes it’s recommended that you install the new timing belt cover. I’d remove the crank pulley to give yourself room to drop it in. If your matching to a transmission in the car I’d put a floor jack under the front of the transmission to tilt it up slightly.

I am thinking of buying a used 3.3 L Highlander Hybrid and replacing the engine. You make it look easy! Is the entire engine harness pulled through the fire wall?
@DebtFreeCars3 жыл бұрын
Yes the harness pulls thru the fire wall to the passenger side ECU. Not too hard. Just need to remove the boot and unbolt the ECU to wiggle the wire harness. The inverter and the traction battery wire harness comes out pretty easy too. You must pull the transmission with the engine. The two do not easily disconnect. So it has to be done outside of the car.

@@DebtFreeCars Thank you sir! You didn not describe the removal of the wire harness in your video, but I am guessing that this is self explanatory? BTW, this car is a 2007 and is the hybrid LTD in pristine condition! I got it for $700. Waiting for a used engine to arrive!

See those two radiators in front of the main radiator?! What the heck are those called? Can't buy them if I don't know what they're called!
@DebtFreeCars Жыл бұрын
The big one is the ac condenser. The smaller one is the hybrid inverter cooler. On some models there is a transmission oil cooler in front of the driver-side front wheel. Hope that helps

Thanks for making these videos. I need to swap the engine on my 2009 highlander hybrid. From what I understand the 3mz-fe in the hybrid is "reduced power output". Does that mean I can't use just any 3mz-fe or does it matter?
@DebtFreeCars3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know only the 4-cylinder hybrids had a different 2AZ engine. I believe the 3MZ used are the same for both hybrid and conventional.

is this 2007 toyota highlander hybrid ?

Yes this applies to a 2007 Toyota Highlander hybrid. What’s the problem with the car?
