How to fix Toyota Hybrid Highlander with Blown Engine and Transmission, Diagnose to Complete Startup

I’m looking at replacing my 06 Highlander hybrid engine. I just picked up the car for not much coin and it has a pretty bad knock in the engine… Do you have advice as to where I can get information on easily removing and replacing the engine? Do you have a suggestion where I can buy a good used engine? Thank you

So I would not assume the knock is just the engine. This transmission or power split unit has a chain inside that loosens and slaps around. Sounds like a knock. Also, you must remove the transmission and engine together. I just did it from the top. Not that hard. Remove the inverter and unplug the hybrid cables.
