Removing the bolt like this can damage the bolt thread. I had to use a ratchet strap, wrap it to the upper arm and tie to the bottom of the strut tightly. Otherwise, once the bolt started loosening, it will be pressed against the ball joint stick on the control arm, and it is very hard to pull the bolt out.

You are absolutely right. I had to do it again (about 18 months after this first time) and although I didn’t have a ratchet strap, I used a clamp to keep everything in place. That bolt came out so easily this time. Thanks for the tip!

I just pulled the wheel and using a grease gun with a needle tip, punctured the front of the ball joint and pumped it full. Better to use front of ball joint as the wheel throws water up the back.

Yep. There are videos showing this. Don’t have to unbolt the ball joint.

I removed the ring (this guy showed how to remove and put the ring back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXvYo2R6etCrpJosi=YYr2mnNWIaULwgHJ), flipped the boot down, cleaned old white grease (a nasty mixed gluey stuff with dirts and water); then flipped the boot back up, and filled up the boot with new grease; put the ring back, turn the joint stick around a few times and it was good to go. No needle needed like other clips have showed.

I used a clamp to pull everything together. At first I tried doing it by hand but I wasn’t able to. Once I got a clamp it was easy to put everything back the way it was.
