This worked the first time and I was able to render a few videos with no problem. That was a couple weeks ago and now I'm trying to render again and keep crashing. I've done a reset of ctrl+shift+enter, clear cache; GPU accelerator is off; Multi-Core is set to non-default options. Any other suggestions?

Never, Never do this type of interfering in Vegas Pro core files. As a member of the official support group I can tell you it will end badly with your installation broken. If you have an issue you need to trouble shoot why your system is not working correctly with Vegas Pro.

This is terrible advice. Doing this breaks the ability to render to the Magix AVC/HEVC codec. Also, it isn't "Sony" VEGAS. It's just VEGAS Pro. Sony stopped making it almost 10 years ago. The better advice is to update to the latest version of VEGAS (assuming you aren't pirating it).
