I've never considered myself a singer but I do play guitar and while playing, half of the fun is singing along. I've been watching your videos and doing the exercises for the past couple months. And I can't believe how my voice is developing! I'm hitting notes I haven't been able to hit before and I'm hitting them hard! I'm starting to take my singing more seriously now because of you!! Thank you Miss, your work here is invaluable!! : )

My biggest struggle is descending with a voice crack. I can seem to smooth it out, going up, but not down. I have my last performance of the year tonight at a nice restaurant in Missoula. Little nervous as a soloist this time. I’ll be having some rehabilitation from a surgery after that and plan on using that time to dive in. any short term suggestions for the descend other than what is posted here which is helpful. Maybe it just takes time and repetition with the finger squeeze exercise

Hey Victoria! I am a trans woman who has had a trouble getting into a warm up routine for my vocal practice, and I had just given up on it for years. I'm going on a date with someone today, and a few days ago I thought, "I'd like to sing for them." I noticed a flat transition in my singing voice, which led me to your video. Now, not only do I have more confidence in my singing, you helped unlock a warm up routine for me, and I feel ready to get back into voice therapy! I'm going to devour the other videos on your channel, and I'm going to post your video/channel across all of my online trans communities. If I can ever afford you, you will absolutely be my first call for individual vocal coaching. Thank you, ever so much, again 😊

I have been in a rut for a few days now. This video helped me so much. Victoria made me realize I was pushing too much because I was trying too hard. The bad habits she mentioned, rock hard abdomen, super squeezed throat, were all currently being done by me in an attempt to control the sound. The exercises she provided were very gentle and very calming as well.

Thank you for your clear and concise explanations - if I understood the laryngeal tilt correctly, it must be something like twang. Beautiful necklace by he way.
@Victoria-Victorious3 ай бұрын
No, they are entirely different. Laryngeal tilt is the forward tilt of the larynx and helps the vocal folds to thin out. Twang is created when the aryepiglottic sphincter (at the top of the larynx) muscles narrow to raise the larynx and reduce the space from which sound comes out. This results in a brighter, pingier sound.

Hi, Victoria. I just discovered you and am slowly making my way through your tutorials (and I need them, tout de suite!). You are adorable. I have a favor to ask, though. I wonder if it would be possible to put a recap graphic at the end of the new videos with all of the exercises you’ve mentioned during the video so we could take a screen shot of the list of steps you covered?
@Victoria-Victorious7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your suggestion. I actually tried that in the past and decided against it. More people were just skipping to the end and not even watching how to do the exercises or what they were even for. Then they would ask all kinds of questions because they did not understand them. Most of my long-form videos have chapters that can help!

Hi Ms. Victoria, I enjoy your videos so much and have learned a lot! Do you have any videos on or that cover nasality in tone?
@Victoria-Victorious4 жыл бұрын
No, I don't but I do mention nasality in a few of my videos. To fix nasality, you just need to lift your soft palate a bit higher (not forced too high). When it is too low, the nasal port opens and air comes out of the nose, causing nasality.

Great as always! I can do it on the exercises, is there a more spoken exercise to get closer to singing.? How can we convince our body to keep the vowels/throat slender? In theory everything is clear, but when it comes to singing, my body doesn't want to cooperate 😅🙄
@Victoria-Victorious3 жыл бұрын
Speak the lyrics closer to the pitch where you will sing them, then if comfortable, sing. Make your songs into exercises. As far as convincing your body, that is muscle memory and requires lots of regular practice (I'd say 6 days a week, even a few minutes each day focusing on the particular issue) to become built in.

Hi I have a question, why when I hum or phonate starting from low note then slide up to above my passagio, I can transition smoothly but when going back from above the passagio to low note, my voice has noticeable flip and is not smooth?
@Victoria-Victorious4 жыл бұрын
Ah, without hearing you, I am assuming that above your passaggio you are either starting out too light (falsetto?) and not transitioning *gradually* as you descend, or your larynx is too high and then clunks down as you descend. Either way, something is off balance when starting from above. Try shorter intervals of a fifth or even a third first. Also lip trills through that same spot.
