Once again with superb content! Hope you'll get the recognition you deserve soon Edit: Wait... You're SVB! just remembered that lol. It's so impressive to me that your content is just top notch no matter the topic.

The bisexual angle would've been great. And not even just from a representation angle. It just sounds to me like good writing/televsion. Wouldn't even need to "on-the-nose". Just give some clear hints and develop this friendship over the movie.

omg...I totally forgot this was your other channel. I was slowly thinking, "This sounds like SVB. Why am I enchanted to listen more? Why am I thinking of Overwatch?"

Jaded Diana due to shitty patriarchy vs. can't forgetting about Steve is a WAY better premise...nice critique SVB!

Okay, I shouldve found this channel so much sooner, I love your content on OW, but watching these are such a breath of fresh air & you have great writing! I loved every second of this video, & the other videos I had seen in thus channel. Extremely underrated.

you nailed so many of things I talked about with friends. Really appreciate this video a lot because I was so disappointed by the film when it had the possibility of being good if they just changed some things.

If you could do more Pixar films, Disney on the whole or even some of the classic DreamWorks greats that would be awesome. I found your video on Up to really show me the underlying meanings in the film and got me excited to learn more about these morals in animated movies. One film that I feel you could do an amazing video on is Treasure Planet, it's one of my favourite films and I know there's definitely a great story that's being told. Thanks for the engaging videos and keep it up!

Love the take SVB. As soon as I saw the title I knew you'd nail this one given your role in amplifying female voices in Overwatch. I could gush about how good every second of this analysis is, but very basically I'll just say that I dig the approach of "What is the purpose of this film? Who is it for and why?". Its very stripped-down. But in a movie like Wonder Woman where you think the feminism ties would be so direct as to be cliche, just pointing out those basic glaring holes and missteps on theme is enough to make you long for could've been instead. Give me nuanced villains and character-conflict damn it! Can't wait for more. Cheers!

SVB! Thank you for spending the time to create contents like these :D I really enjoy your thought process and the effort you take to dissect subjects - that being said, I would love to see you do more reviews on these superhero movies/tv shows. They are often brushed aside for being light, comedic, and lacking depth, but I would love to hear your thoughts on what makes some of these generic superhero tv/movie shows bland, but also good enough where we see things like MCU/CW Series go on for quite some time. Just a small thoughts myself (perhaps The Soak can have sub-segments for superhero stuff :D :D) Thanks as always SVB!

Yes I love this. I was definitely disappointed by WW1984 when I saw it and this was probably one of the only superhero movies I started and never finished.

That's some great essay! Don't follow overwatch anymore, recognized your voice but wasn't sure, haha

i would love if this movie played out as you described. but no they just had to gay bait us
@TheSoak3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think they took a very safe and cowardly approach to making the film, which in turn made it even worse than if they had just done what they were hinting at

Not my favourite video in this channel, I was initially afraid to make this next comment, but i think it does feel a little mansplainy at times, specially when you imply that your changes would make this movie have something important to say about what it means to be a woman 0:49 That said I do agree with some of your points and i'm looking forward to your next video! It just felt a little out of place at some points.

I don't particularly like this video it feels a tad mansplainy to me. Also I really didn't like the comment about Diana being hung up over Steve as she is a 'literal goddess' the implication there takes away her agency as a woman to be able to feel human/feminine emotions simply because she is a super being.

Women are not rare in cinema what are you talking about?
@szkieber3 жыл бұрын
It‘s not that women are rare but that women are less likely to play leading roles especially in superhero movies as mentioned in the video. Women are also often reduced to playing tropes such as the damsel in distress which serve no other purpose but to motivate men on their mission. The Bechdel test is another great example of how women are reduced to props without their own agency in many movies.
