We're all going to die, and most of us are afraid of that, despite comforts of the MCU (2008-2021). So...since shoving our feelings down is the standard, and since power over others is pleasurable, a dark power fantasy forms, far from view of the conscious mind. _How could someone be so evil,_ thinks the superego; while the ego and Id conspire... Horror movies do this more viscerally, where we are forced to identify as the victim specifically, lest we accidentally enjoy the bloodbath. But both appeal to the neglected demons inside. Every time we fail to acknowledge our _evil_ - to process and exorcise our animal desire, it turns to sadism (or masochism, which is just sanitized sadism). better out than in, I say...and if you get a hard-on while watching Silence of the Lamb, then consult your doctor. ;)
