to fix drift do what i did. (10$ at your local autozone or amazon) 1. Buy Air Mass Censor Flow 2. Apply on drift area (try to get it on the inside edges) 3. Let it dry and rotate the sticks

Great idea. Electronic cleaning might also work. I would suggest removing the battery and having it unplugged when you do this and give it some time to try before you add power to it

Blowing on my series x controller actually worked, i had to buy a new controller last time i had drift, nothing worked. It just started on this one so i wanted to fix it asap, i blew and it didnt work, then i went really close and blew as hard as i could, and now, i dont wanna jinx it, but its fixed. I used the alcohol method for my old one and it didnt work so i just threw it out, kinda regret it now bc i didnt try blowing. My passes on fifa were going in the wrong direction, i walked off a cliff when one squad was left in fortnite, the nightmares from a few years ago were coming back. I watched so many vids and each one was exactly the same, but thank you. If none work for you, blow as hard as you can and it will eventually work. Took at least 10 attempts for me.

The new xbox series controller? May I ask what the exact symptoms are? Apparently many people have this exact issue: Right stick drifts up even though the stick itself seem completely fine. If it's as widespread as i thought then perhaps it's a mass defect or flaw in the design, I'll replace it with the older controller.

It requires a wide range of motion on the left stick and pressing the stick all the way and swinging it eventually rubbing and scratching. The old controllers would do this but no so early on. I would use the old but the new controller feel is just much more appealing and reminds me that i have the new console.

These new controllers are trash. Btw that alchohal wont hit the accelerometers that register stick movement because the black part you are putting it on is a shield that covers them and the edges of the black plastic are far from them. The blowing method is the best bet if debree got into there.

@@taput4175 yeah when I got my series x the controller went bad in 2 weeks too. I went on amazon and ordered 10 potentiometers for 7.99 and when I got them it only took 5 minutes to replace the bad one and it worked like new. Funny enough it's working better than the factory one xD

@@taput4175 all you need to do is replace the center piece not the entire green part. You pull back the top of it pull out the inner ring and replace the old inner ring with the new one. Be sure to use a cue tip to clean out where the ring was first.

For anyone that got their controller somewhat recently or may have forgotten about their warranty. If you got the box/serial number. Microsoft will send you a new one for free or refurbished one. Provided it's within warranty. Use the serial number! Goodluck! Had mine 4 months and got left stick drift.

I had my XSX for only two months and my controller already has right stick drift. did you get a new replacement controller or a refurbished one when you sent yours to Microsoft? I’m hesitant to send my controller in because I don’t want to get a refurbished one and then it’s heavily used or in worse condition than the one that currently has right stick drift.

@@mr_w1nderful When i went on the website they gave me two options. Send mine in to be "refurbished". The other option they will immediately send me a replacement. I choose the replacement so i could still play with my broken one. My friend checked hers and she only had the first option not sure why. Anyway they sent it just a controller wrapped in bubble wrap inside two boxes nothing extra. It works great though can't tell if it was a refurbished one they had or a new one due to lack of any packaging. So to answer your question in my experience the one they gave was good as new. No dirt, no scratches, no sticky buttons, no drift, smooth sticks.

My left analog stick has this sticky drift like if I push my analog stick backward or forward and let go of the joy stick the character still moves. I tried blowing into the series s controller with air compressor, I tried cleaning it with alcohol, I tried clicking down and moving clockwise and counter clockwise in circles and still nothing changed, the weirdest part is this controller is jus 2months old so don't get it. Funny thing is that people think that the series x ,series s, elite 1& 2 all have different anologs lol . They all use the same shitty potentiometers that are easy to but but rather difficult to untrained people to replace . They don't give a single fuck about stick drift . You're not giving the isopropyl alcohol enough credit. It's non-conductive and fast evaporating. Aside from waste, there's really no harm in just pouring some 90% alcohol into the thumbstick gaps then waiting a couple hours for it to evaporate. The only reason to wait for it to dry is that the other 10% is water, but not really enough to cause trouble unless you pour a ridiculous amount.

Aside from that the only reason I can imagine it would stop working is if there was already something inside that just got loosened and moved to a more problematic spot. Best bet is to open it up and manually clean inside your controller.

I'll be honest with you man. I can't believe this blowing method worked. The "up" direction on my left joystick, no doubt from constantly hitting up to run forwards in action games, was very unresponsive and in the windows game controller calibration screen I couldn't push it more than 30% of the way to the top of the square. Blowing into the crack instantly worked. I can't have moved any real amount of grime. Maybe it released (or balanced???) some internal buildup of static electricity or something. Anyway, it worked like magic against all odds. Even though it didn't make any sense. Thanks.

I wanna tell you all the biggest problem of controllers, i don't know if it's a thing that "comes" along with the drift, but i have this problem and i cannot have a good aim anymore on any game. The problem is that the right stick is not at the center of the circle (when i move the stick to the right it stops a little bit to the right from the center, the problem is, if i have to move the analog to the left, now the stick is going to need to move to the center and then move to the left, so when i want to aim left i need to move the stick more than i need to do for the right) i hope you get what i'm saying

You can also use cologne instead of alcohol if you don’t have any alcohol for your controller.

For anyone looking for a way to fix stick drift controller in 2024 this method works but it’s only temporary every time you disconnect your controller or turn off your Xbox it goes back into having drift but I just blow into the sides and twist the sticks around and it works again but it’s the best method I’ve found without needing to use rubbing alcohol or opening your controller apart

I had a slightly different problem and I couldn't find anything about it, but I opened up the controller and found that the reason it was sticking was because a piece of debris was lodged under it and physically blocking me from using it. No idea what it was, but it still works so I'm assuming it wasn't important.
