I have a MSI 980ti Armour 2x and flashed my GPU bios. At first I thought it was stable as I increased the voltage settings and power limit to 200%. Then I saw that the voltage was being limited and the power limit was causing problems. The overclock seemed better but then the temps rose to 91 degrees, which caused the card to down clock a lot. Right now I'm just glad I didn't brick it. I didn't save a stock bios so does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Hey dude. So I have an RTX 2070 which works perfectly but whenever it installs drivers or automatically updated the drivers from Windows updater it blackscreens. Do you think this method would work with this? My pc recognises the gpu but it has no drivers installed so I can't use its full potential. Thank you if you reply :)

No. That's obviously a driver issue. What you need to do is first download latest drivers from Nvidia site. Then download Display Driver Uninstaller. Then (and this is important), disable your internet. For if you stay connected the Windows will start downloading new drivers again and you won't be able to do this properly. After your internet is disabled change the device installation settings (under advanced system settings) to off, so that windows won't automatically try to install the drivers after you enable internet with the current drivers. Then go to safe mode. To do that, hold shift and restart PC. Then click and navigate to advance settings and change windows startup behaviour. Then you get windows of options and press 4, that will take you to safe mode. In safe mode remove the drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). Restart PC. Once you boot to Windows (with internet still disabled) install the latest drivers you downloaded from nvidia site. Install, restart PC again. After Windows boots, you can start you internet again. This should fix your issues, if not, try to use an older version of the drivers and repeat the whole proces. The only reason you should ever flash your GPU bios are: -You wan't to OC it better -You bricked it

If it works in safe mode then the card is recognized and there is something wrong regarding software. You can use it regardless but its at your risk, if you mess up you may hard brick it.

What does over riding the auto executable do? My R9 390x was flashed, then later I flashed it again on the desktop, the atiflash crashed and my card got bricked. It was flashed again on the desktop with command prompt, only see a black screen now. When I use atiflash for DOS it says this program isn't made for DOS. Not sure if there is anything I can do to change it.

You put the command that checks the bios version and flashes it. I'm not sure if it works without it as then there would be no commands. Try to use the same versions I use in the video and see if it works then. if it says its not made for dos you're probably using Windows version, there are 2 versions and one is for DOS.

Hi, I think the latest nvflash doesn't work this way, as it doesn't have the same files and when I try to boot through the flash drive it says his cannot be done in DOS EDIT: I used the last version specified for DOS but now it tells me it cannot open bios.rom

my system only sees the main HD and the USB as UEFI. No way to choose the "normal / non-UEFI" option at the bottom. obviously FreeDOS wont start on UEFI. Any ideas to fix?

That depends on your bios configuration. If you're on laptop and you perhaps have limited options to adjust then you might not be able to do this. I know some Lenovo and HP laptops completely lock bios and then you're simply shit out of luck. If you're on desktop then you definitely can do it, unless you have some specific OEM kind of motherboard in that case you might want to check it how to change it. I can't help you beyond that.

Yes. Not 100% that it will work but you can try. When I bricked my GPU it also didn't work in Windows but it worked in DOS. Otherwise you have to reprogram it with a programmer yourself.

I was able to fix it in windows just unplug graphics card, set integrated graphics in bios, put card back in and run nvflash64 commands for the backup file from cmd.

I followed your instructions nearly exactly and the DOS screen booting from USB says: C:\>nvflash -4 -5 -6 bios.rom and next line says This program cannot be run in DOS mode...........Only variable I had was that you said to click on newest version which for me was nvflash 5.370......really not sure what I've done wrong here.....side note: when copy/pasting contents of nvflash 5.370 there were several files not shown in your video.....should I find and use an older version of nvflash?

I should also mention that when in the boot menu and choosing the usb drive it's listed twice. once as SanDisk Ultra 1.26, and again as UEFI: SanDisk Ultra 1.26, Partition 1 ....i..This usb does not show up twice within Windows and there were no partitions when I started. I'm going to try another usb drive that's new fresh out of the box just to make certain I don't have a bad usb drive.

That wouldn't work because there is more to 980m than just bios chip. You have GPU die itself that has to be changed, power requirments, transistors and what not.

Well then there you go. its not there. One thing to mention. That database is the biggest there is for VBIOS so if you cannot find it there, you probably won't find it anywhere else either. Did you brick your GPU or you just want to flash a new one?

I think that's a different chip that has higher voltage. You might kill that gpu but sure, try and report back. Oh now I read no igpu. I guess you cant then because you need to have display ability to see dos unless you dont mess it up and brick it.

if you get black screen when you plug it in its because the gpu has an issue, depending on what you did with it it may vary the reason you dont get black screen if its not in is because the gpu display is obviously from apu and when you plug dedicated gpu in the default gpu switches to that one if you dont even get a post or anything with the dedicated gpu in and have a black screen then you definitely have a bios problem, again depending on what you were doing with it i cannot help you much if you only oc the gpu then you did not brick it 100%, if you tempered with bios it may depend

Error 43 means your gpu is dead or is dying as something on the pcb is faulty. If you have warranty i would rma it. Even if you fix it it will be temporary.

Not much I can help you. If you are in DOS mode and you get that message it means you are beyond this program help. You need a programmer and then flash the bios directly to the chip like that.

You need dos version to be able to run it in dos mode. It shouldn't matter what gpu you own as it doesn't work like that. If you did everything right and it doesn't show up in dos then I am afraid you need a programmer in order to fix your gpu bios issues.

Well if you bricked your card or deleted its bios it doesn't matter where you plug it in, you won't be able to see it since its the VBIOS on the graphics card itself not on the motherboard. Secondly if you use the DOS Nvflash and still don't have the GPU detected then its beyond the capabilities of this program. You'll have to find another way, if there even is any, to fix your GPU. What did you do in the first place for the need of resorting to this video?

Thats impossible. Try to use Display Driver Uninstaller first and see if that helps you install the correct drivers.

Does this method work for a MSI GTX 280 which isn't displaying nothing, fan not spinning making a long beeping noise. I unos it has power because there is a red LED light that turns on when switched on. Do you think this can be done with a mobo with IGs and telling the bios to use the IG instead office PCI-E?

Yeah. You need at least 1 GPU and integrated one will work. Then try it in DOS mode. IF it does not get detected then you're probably out of luck. If you really want to get it working you might want to get rassbery pi and then flash the chip directly but that option is much more complicated and time consuming.

Hello friends, could someone help me with a question I have? I am trying to install the bios of my GTX 960 4GB Asus Strix gpu but I made the mistake of trying to update the same bios and it always happens that I do the whole process and when I press (Y) to confirm I get a screen of (nvfalsh se stopped) we will send a diagnosis or something like that, basically the program closes me and it does not let me flash the original bios and what happens is that when I open gpuz after that error, it appears without some data such as memory and bits and some things more but then I restart it and I do not have the res then I enable the gpu and everything is like this but I still feel that I am missing something since I start to experience FPS drops in games that I did not have before, furmark passes and everything is fine. It happens (would it be because of wanting to install the same bios? or for the version of nvfalsh or for the windows since I have windows 8.1 single language sorry how long the post is My PC i7 3930k 16gb ram g skill asus sabertooth x79 power supply 600w 80+ bronze gtx 9604gb asus ver. NVFlash 5.692 the last one that appears in techpowerup

Get another pc to put the original bios on the usb then go in dos and do it. If you can't get it then you need to buy a programmer and do it like that.

If you are in dos and you get that then its beyond help. You need to buy a programmer and do it manually like that or replace bios chip with working one.

Well it depends on your vendor, asus, acer, dell, etc. If yuo can try and see which one you had originally either from somewhere on your gpu itself or when you bought it if it says which one it is, then download the bios for that one.

so i ve completed ur all step and ready to flash but the problem is i have cpu with gtx 1050 ti oc and got one pci slot so when i plug my gpu fans run but no display..everything is alright i ve checked before..i also having gt 610 it is working gud , i dnt know how to boot my gpu for flash whenver i plug in there is no display i changed pci to integrated graphics only still when i plug my gpu it will show no display wheather my hdmi is plugged in mobo..so how could i will flash without getting display...stuck for days...lockdown is going on i m fucked.!!

You need integrated graphics for this to work yes. If you plug hdmi directly in the mb then you are using intel hd graphics. It may be that you have bios set to display or read from dedicated gpu first.

@@JustOneGuy i tried both way switching pci panel to integrated graphics.. Using hdmi panel of integrated graphics without my card attached to panel everything is working great but whenever i put my card on.. There will be no display only fans run.

@@victorluigi801 found my original vBIOS online and flashed it and it worked, downside was that my issue with my VGA was the fried GPU, so I fixed the issue, but I had a larger one going on. Good luck man

Yassine Neo First of all make sure you are using the correct VBIOS. Secondly if you used my method, that is followed my video correctly it should have been installed without any issues. However if you did not I advise you to download the neccessary software as shown in the video, watch the video and do accordingly again as shown in the video. Yassine Neo The procedure should be the same. Try to install vbios while having gpu in his computer and then put it back in yours. See if that works.

Are you in DOS? Then you can't do it with software anymore, you need a programmer and program the bios directly on the chip.

I have a question. My gpu is not listed in device manager neither in gpu-z. First i thought it was a vbios problem, but now i think my gpu might be fried. I unninstalled all graphics devices in device manager (my gpu was listed as Standard VGA Adapter before i unninstalled and gpu-z was showing a second VGA Adapter which is my gpu) and now my whole system doesn't recognize my graphics card. I've tried flashing the vbios in DOS as the video says but i'm getting "supported eeprom not found" error. Can someone help me?

If software doesn't find your GPU then you need to buy a programmer and flash it directly to bios chip like that.

I thought the gpu was fried because the system doesn't even recognizes my graphics card anymore, a couple of days ago i was getting 8 short beeps, i was searching and i found that it is a display memory error, so i thought maybe the memories are fried or the gpu is fried.

Martin Kenyon Have you tried this? ok i fixed that stupid card .. i went in bios enabled integrated card(from I7 4770k) booted in Windows ..and unzipped mine nwflash (again) .. pressed flash and it started well i had options to pick which bios i want ..and i clicked opposite one (G) gaming mode and it started and then nwflash stuck !!! with message "nwflash searching for video adapter to update".. .smt like that .... Then checked in services and saw that nwflash uses roughly 15% of mine cpu power then i w8 1 min then `15 minutes then i got bored went to make coffee (i was sooooo sleepy that i even didn't cared for bricking 750EU card) .. When i come back after 20 minutes and saw that theres no progress i went in task manager and pressed "END TASK for that broken nwflash" .. then restarted PC switched DVI connector from IGP to discrete card(a bricked one...or it wasn't !? :P).. and made last attempt on mine surprise BOTED!!!!!! ..then i check in gpu Z and it was "Gaming Bios is installed 86.4.17.0.89 (its from MSI gaming Z)(and it was the bios which i tried to overwrite with another).....and now i have no idea what happened .. did i first time failed to flash card and smt super vied happened ..or did my last flashing attempt actually succeeded ..

1) Go in bios and disable integrated gpu 2) GO and flash with nwflash 3) pick the bios 4) install try to connect your cable to graphics card and integrated and see which one works better
