Hello from Canada! I came to your channel from LCN. I'm very impressed by your knowledge and videos! I'm super new to lawn care. Learning a lot from you :) I do not have easy access to Surfactant and many other weed control products/fertilizers from the US..but at this point of my level, I need to learn when and how to use fert/weed killers and other basic stuff. Excited to watch more of your videos!

I'm mowing my St Augustine twice a week at the moment here in Texas. It's growing like crazy!
@CDPMATH4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, I have St Augustine grass as well. Just wondering how often you water it and what fertilizer do you use to get explosive growth. I’m in Southern California. Thank you.
@markg68604 жыл бұрын
@@CDPMATH I throw down some Scotts Weed N Feed (for Southern Lawns) in the spring, just to keep weeds under control. I then drop some Milorganite a couple of times during the growing season. I water a couple of times a week, even during the hot weather, just to make the roots go deep. My grass seems to grow faster than my neighbors, but I mow twice a week (at about 3.5"), which makes a lawn much thicker. (Mine feels like carpet). I hand-sharpen the mower blade every few mowings and I use a grass box about a third of the time, just to prevent possible thatch build-up.

My Kentucky bluegrass and tall fescue is about 4". Should I put a Scott's summer guard fertilizer down in July?

I did the DD for Memorial Day and it’s went well. Going to hit it again this week for the 4th!
@andyslawncareandoutdooradv4 жыл бұрын
Great tips Jake! I put down Milo and DD 5 weeks ago and the color is still holding well BUT.... TruGreen came and sprayed several neigbors lawns and put down fertilizer. So today I put down Purely organic(aka Ringer lawn restore clone) along with DD. Perfect timing for 4th of July!

If I may, the cheated iron works on the leaves but doesn’t help much on the ground. I put down 7-0-0 using an Ortho on two different lawns. I got a decent green-up. I later purchased a powered backpack sprayer and tried it with that.. I built an adapter so that I could use teejet nozzles. I put the 7-0-0 down at the labeled rate mixed with two quarts of water per 1K...dark, dark, dark. The low water volume ensured the mist of iron/water stayed on the foliage instead of being washed away by 2 gallons of water per 1K that the Ortho puts out. Added bonus, I used a flat spray nozzle and two passed to put down the 2qts of water. The flat nozzle enabled me to get close to Fences and sidewalks without overspray.

We are in Georgia, we purchased the N-ext Rgs, Air-8, Humic-12, Microgreene for Bermuda. How should we mix this cocktail? When mowing, what length should we now the grass? Can we use N-ext system with weed killer Blindside?
@JakeTheLawnKid4 жыл бұрын
You can mix all four together at 3oz/1000 each. Bermuda does well at 2.5" with a rotary cut. No problems with the blindsided either.

I know this is 2 weeks later but Jake I have many years of experience with zero turns and you should change the pattern of the strips every week! You can leave ruts in the lawn and it will mess up the cut quality! And it don’t look to good when it happens!!!

Hey Jake, would you recommend the ortho or electric sprayer for the double dark application?

Check that room for allergens and possible mold. If you have an a/c system, those can be problematic for some people.

Higher Lawn = more moisture = FUNGUS!!!!
@JakeTheLawnKid4 жыл бұрын
That's part of why I typically recommend mowing 2x/1 week or more. The act of mowing provides airflow down to the soil surface when done frequently.
@bigdrumnc3784 жыл бұрын
Any one or most any one who is watching this or who would attempt this-are probably following a strict fungicide schedule.
@minoutv73474 жыл бұрын
Fish Duck not necessarily. We’re mowing 4” tall fescue, twice a week, plus deep water early mornings, 1/2” twice a week. No fungus here.
