This is accurate AF- I can speak from personal experience. I had a major life trauma that I felt powerless over and bam, I curled myself into a ball and now have neck issues, occipital neuralgia, numbness in both arms and face. I have been trying to fix it all and the more I let go ofd the trauma the better this is getting.

Elliott i just want you to know that this video really did ring true with me and something horrific that happened in my life. My family were taken away from me, the police put bail conditions on us for over 2 years until i finally got in crown court and overcame most probably the biggest and hardest obstacle i will ever encounter in my life, and was found not guilty after being accused of abusing my child of 5 months at the time. During this period, what you describe regarding the solar plexus especially, but everything else too, i could not change anything, i was researching, providing anything i could to my solicitors and barristers, but for 19 months until i got in court i could not change a single thing, i felt like i was shutting down, dying as you describe. I have just started to work on my physical fitness, been at it for 8 weeks now and am already feeling the changes and my energy returning, however the other day a personal trainer told me i had a kyphosis and i remembered watching some of your videos and then found this. I've found your other videos, the stretches and exercises you provide to help fix my kyphosis and the neck exercises and cervical extenders etc. are really good, i will update this in another 6 - 8 weeks and let you know my progress, but this is a deep felt thankyou, for your caring nature and for your down to earth and brilliant articulation of how you feel psychologically and emotionally will affect you physically, as i've said, what i've been through was extremely heavy, but the information you've provided here has really expressed in words what I knew intuitively and in turn has given me so much more understanding and thus better application and I have no doubts that the progress i will make now will, like others say, be ten fold compared to what it was without you and this video. What you are saying is absolutely 110% correct, although some would most likely disagree because they don't like their beliefs being challenged so will be in denial. Thankyou so much for your videos, I will spread this information to others as I'm working towards becoming a personal trainer myself and want to educate myself or as you say, become the strongest version of myself as much as I can to help others.

I've been learning this the hard way over the past few months, as a ballet student (where posture is the basis of everything) with dwindling self confidence. Thanks for this video, you've elaborated on things for me. It's been a vicious cycle of fear of failure, and bad classes caused by bad posture, so then more negative feelings and fear caused by bad classes and then more bad posture! Recently things have changed for the better and my confidence is returning. You're an angel!

The emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects are a big part of how we move and hold our body. (And the development of disease) Thank-you for sharing this, it's important !!!

You have a very clear filter on your senses. You see things for the most part the way they are, not the way you think they are. This shows in your speaking. Your speech flows, unimpeded by lies and distortions. If we can look at the world without interfering too much, we also can have the knowledge you have. Hard work and honesty with ourselves and others is all it takes. We need more people with a holistic approach to health in the medical system. Thanks Elliot

When we breathe normally, passively, the solar plexus pushes out on inhale and inward on exhale as the diaphragm and organs lower and raise. But maybe you've experimented and found that you can also do the opposite pattern, though in an effortful way, actively drawing the stomach in and upward on inhale (baring the ribcage at the costal margin like we bare our teeth and increasnig kyphosis) and pushing the belly out and upward and leaning the ribcage backward on exhale (increasing lordosis and dropping the shoulder blades). Here is the short cut I found to get into a strong but relaxed and open posture from a weak closed one: allow the solar plexus to only push forward. Take a passive inhale, but support the exhale with an active lengthening and forward/upward movement of the solar plexus. Allow the whole body to adjust to each phase in order to keep the solar plexus as high and forward as possible. Allow the skull and pelvis to follow by keeping forward/upward intention in the tongue/jaw and anogenital region respectively. Experiment with the opposite pattern as well, active inhale and passive exhale with backward/upward intention. Ultimately it seems to get us to the same place on the outside, but through a different path, although the intention, the internal state feels different, like yang as opposed to yin. Perhaps the first path is more parasympathetic and opens us to experience and to others whereas the second path is more sympathetic and prepares us for exertion and defense, and being able to dynamically move from one to the other throughout the day to meet the demands of the moment is the healthiest way.

The whole body is one and you have to feel good to have good posture. You have to be 100% honest with yourself and and ask how do i want my posture, how does it feel, i am what i feel - my body/energy in the space of energy in motion/the universe. what is my intention, my goal, my fears, the truth of all things that are, not limited to language. Everything is energy, when not limited to the filter of language. It is your response or choice to be what you are. Be content with your body because you are comfortable in your skin. If you don't like your body or environment then you are automatically not going to express yourself righteously. If you cannot stand straight then don't, do what feels good and be honest with yourself. Your body is still you so your posture and movements have to feel good physically and non physically. Don't give in to the stories of physical and non physical that you play in your head, just let everything express itself, but you have to listen without judgement.

Very well rounded lecture on Posture. It can be an easy fix but to maintain means balance in all areas of life. And the thing that sucks for many is that it is induced at childhood by people demeaning others or using force then making back and shoulders either Over stimulated and angry tense or from my own experience and seeing others is the rounded forward shoulders and slightly or major rounded back. I had low level back roundness as pre puberty kid, I still struggle keeping my collar relaxed

This makes so much sense. A thought kinda popped into my head when I watched this. You're postures not going to get fixed by simple exercises and what not because having the hunched posture came in naturally probably because of the way you were feeling, so it has to fix itself naturally by feeling confident and happy. Kind of like how a dog wags it's tail when it sees its owner, if you saw an angry dog and tried wagging it's tail back and forth, it's not going to become instantly happy.

You are awesome mate, I got a prolapsed disk 3 years ago and have been determined to recover, eventually I was referred to a pain specialist as I kept saying everything was tight, he confirmed I had tight muscles and nerves and I had a blood test, turned out I had a vitamin d and folic acid deficiency. Since iv got my levels up I have started to be able to unlock deep muscles in my back, my neck, shoulders and arms...pelvic rotator everything is tight. I remembered seeing one of your vids mentioning dowagers hump and I tried the stretches by engaging my tongue etc, it has set off a chain reaction which is allowing me to finally stretch everything, thankyou, I feel I have a future again.

I hope that makes sense, im dyslexic. Anyway I just wanted to say that vitamin d deficiency can cause major muscle tightness, I also had enlarged red bloodcells so had less of them hence less oxygen, I had an inhaler at one point because they thought I might have asthma. I was always the first to be shivering in the cold, now I hardly feel the cold at all, extremely noticeable difference. Depressed in the winter before, dreaded the cold winter and always instinctively basked in the sunshine in summer. If these symptoms match anyone reading this I hope you will try vitamin d pills, it's changed my life.

Ben remember to take magnesium when you take vitamin d, it's very important!

I see you're familiar with the concept of Chakras Elliott. Although they're usually taught as a spiritual, energetic thing, you translated it into our modern knowledge/perspective and adapted it to our daily lives and problems. Kudos to you!

You must have known, you used the proper colours. I find it amazing that as a previously self-proclaimed atheist, and current follower of Hindu and Buddhist philosophies , how many examples of the fundamentals of these religions I am cosmically drawn to. When I first found your videos, Mr. Hulse, I was astounded to find a profound intellectual who, like myself, was also into physical fitness and philosophical Idealism. It was upon realizing the spiritual parallel that we share that I knew fate.
