A heel strike isn’t necessarily bad, it’s when it’s combined with an over stride where the heel lands in front of center of mass, creating a breaking force.If you’re striking below your center of mads then a heel strike is okay.

With a forefoot strike comes more impact protection and less injury. Humans weren’t built to slam our boney heels into the ground, and the only reason we can use incorrect technique is because of cushioned running shoes.
@flaming_ice522011 ай бұрын
No, no, heel striking is in fact poor form. Proper form will have you running on your forefoot. Heel Stirling causes injury and it also brakes you when you are trying to go faster. Forefoot will make you go plenty faster. The only justifiable time to heel strike is a steep downhill.
@flunx11 ай бұрын
Its not about heelstrike or forefoot. You should land flat, so the talus has a more stable position. Forefoot stresses the tendons

Tips with arm swinging while running from my own CC experience: if the goal is long distance, having a gentler consistent swing will conserve energy. If the goal is speed, bending the arms at 90ish degree angles and keeping a strong motion in time with your footsteps will help with your momentum.

I don't think this is a great video because different things work for different people, especially for heel striking verses forefoot striking. This video would make beginner runners feel insecure because of how their foot strikes the ground. I wouldn't say anyway is truly correct, it's just what works for you. And whatever feels comfortable for you. Though keeping your upper body controlled is good.

Disclaimer - I am an experienced runner but not an expert. Years ago I went to a running clinic on form and they put it this way...stand with your weight in the front of your feet and slowly begin to tilt forward. At the point when you begin to fall forward, that's the tilt you want. They had us do drills where we just practiced that gentle fall forward so we could get a sense of what it felt like. Unfortunately, I don't really pay much attention to form now. 😢😢

This is all very debated and there is evidance lacking. Just to give an example: brigid kosgei is heel striking ;)
