Thank you for this video. The key for me was understanding the locking piece. Once I removed that i could put it all back easily. I had tried to figure it out several times over a month or so before looking for a video.

Glad to be of help. I don't know how many of these chairs are out there, but we have two. This one is in our beach house and with kids, grand kids and their friends, there is a lot of rough housing and this stool has come apart before. I didn't know how to fix it so I stuck the two peg locking device back in and it worked OK until it fell apart again so I finally got serious and figured out how it worked. The Norwegians are good engineers. Thanks for commenting.

This is incredible!! My 15 year old Stressless footstool was rocking and I couldn't decide whether to throw it out or not. So I checked KZbin and found this video -- and in about 15 minutes including the time to find the sliding parts, I fixed the chair myself! One of the sliding pieces was separated and the locking mechanism had loosened. No parts were broken or lost. I am an 81 year old female so if someone tells you they weren't able to follow this video, they must have real perception problems!

Thanks for your comment. I am also 81 years old. There are three of these stools in our family, but only one has had this problem. It kept happening over and over again, which led me to produce this video. Even after you fix it, the problem can recur. You might want to check out my subsequent video on how to permanently fix this problem.

Mr. Baldwin, I bought a 1970s Stressless (chrome base) from a neighbor and it needs to be reupholstered. I wondered if you had any insight into how to disassemble an old chair, specifically how to get the glide knobs off and how to remove the ottoman base. Thank you for any help.
