Ahhh thank you! Wish I would have found this sooner! I thought I downloaded NVME Android 12, but I got SATA by accident. Flash failed at the exact same time as yours. Now I get no boot w/wo SD, and "no device found" when I try to enter maskrom mode. I assume the SPI is looking for the SATA image to boot. I've tried shorting the DI (PIN 5) on the SPI like 20 times now to reset it back to SD boot, still no luck. Hope it's not just a paper weight.. it's not heavy enough for that.

I should upload a new video, you should try the latest android image OrangePi5_RK3588S_Android12_spi-sata_v1.0.2.tar.gz, or the box version which support TV remote controller.

Accroading to changelog, v1.0.1 supports wifi on RTL8821CU, RTL8723BU, RTL8811CU, while Bluetooth works on RTL8811CU for android. If you are using TF card, you HAVE TO plug it in before booting. NVMe and SATA does not need to plug it in before booting.

I'm really interested to get one of this, but the lack of software support just make me think about it. I already saw several problems with linux, like not having hardware acceleration even if the sbc is capable of that, but all of this is an old problem occurring for the previous orange pi too. Also, the community seems not to be interested working on this, even if his potential is way more interesting than a raspberry pi 4 or other sbc that are more expensive. Anyway I'm sure this video it will help me a lot if I'm going to buy one

Thank you. :) Linux you can use panfork, and blame Arm for not providing an opensource Mali GPU driver. On the other hand, some say panfork will be intergrated into mainline, by now you can install it by your own. gitlab.com/panfork/mesa

I am sure that this will be very useful to many. It is s shame that the updated images and, just as importantly, the Orange Pi OS images are only on the Chinese part of the website, which is essentially unavailable outside of China because the downloads require a Baidu account, which is for China only. It would be great if somebody could download these images and upload them to a more universally accessible site. Sadly, the tech support from Orange Pi themselves is practically non existent and their support forums are so full of spam that they are rendered almost useless too.

@@noahheninger it says some bug fix about apt install error and USB wifi support etc. since v1.0.4, so I use the newer one. Edit: newest 1.1.0 did solve my 2k monitor issue. edit: sorry just found this comment under android, that was all about linux image changelog.

@@leononinckx5430 thank you, I got it just because it is exteremely cheap when I bought it. Keyboard is Hexgears GK11, Kailh white box switch version. Keycap is Dawn XDA which I bought it from aliexpress, but I saw it on walmart called Shimmer. In my personal experience, das 4 pro blue is way more better, iKBC CD87 blue is slightly better if you can get one produced prior to 2019 due to cherry blue switch production reason.

I found changelog in their official website. You can either get image from my comments (occasionally updates) or direct from Chinese orange pi official page. BTW changelog roughly in 1.0.2: RTL8822CU RTL8723BU bluetooth supported, solved some brand TF card issue in stock android 12, meanwhile solved many bug in orange pi OS .

If you mean format your card: On windows you can use windows built-in Disk management tool to delete all the partations, then format it. On Mac or linux just erase it as usual.

SPI chip on this board you can consider it as BIOS on x86, which flashed already while we flash the OS image.

@@Salex31 yes, while you flashed into your TF card the SPI was flashed also, so it will boot on TF card then. I recommend you use Intel optane (M10 have a 2242 version) which is very cheap, I got it just around 5 USD.
