I just got this in the mail. The case is kind of crappy, here's why: the USB-C ports don't line up exactly to the holes. The power button rattles around loosely, it works fine but it doesn't touch the switch, it just sits there. If you're not using wifi they don't give you any plugs to fill the antenna holes. You don't want the antennae installed without using them because they have small metal pigtail connectors on them and therefore will short something out when they touch the board. They do give you 2 extra antennas for when you break them (and you will, because they're crappy plastic) that you could cut the wires off the extras and stick them in there, but that would be kinda ridiculous. The thermal adhesive strips are nice but what happens when you need to replace them? They're each different densities. The Rockchip adhesive is about 1-2mm and the RAM adhesive is about 4mm. I guess you could find some somewhere. There is a lens that you stick on the case over the front LED that is pretty much guaranteed to fall off eventually. Next, the foam feet pads go over the screws. I would recommend using a hole punch on them over where the screw enters so you don't have to peel them off or pierce it with your screwdriver. As I just received this thing I'm quite sure there are more issues. As someone else said in the comments - it isn't really meant to be taken apart once it has been assembled, which is no good. Once it's together you will have no GPIO access, for example. I guess I'll update this as I find other problems. If this becomes a nuissance then I'll probably get one of the 3rd party black metal cases. There are some which have screw-on SMA wifi antennas which are much nicer, so I'd say check those out first.

If only Orange Pi would put as much effort and attention into building some decent operating systems for their boards.

I use ubuntu and it works like a dream. the world doesnt need another fking operating system... How about making stuff work with current technology than reinvent and lock your users to a new ecosystem. Orange pi is better than raspberry pi. The new raspberry pi 5 costs $85 for 4gb of ram and a 6 year old CPU H😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Without active heatsync can you still do compute intensive work?

Only 1 design choice OP take annoy me: put the screws under the rubbers feets. In the middle or long term it never paid off !

I was not able to attach the antennas to the wifi card unless I removed it from the board first

HA. I'm 4 hours in and cant get them on. Absolute trash they made the antenna clips so short u can only grip the wire. Such an oversight, and they knew it cuz even in this video it's the only step they edited out cuz the guy could do it live

@@zacki5663 unrelated, but were you able to attach the emmc card? I gave up on it.

Man, this antenna connectors are fucking cursed.

I connected them and glued over, because they fall off when you mount the board.
@zacki56638 ай бұрын
@@destineal no! well, yes, but then even with glue they fell off. when trying to put them back on the wire eventually broke. threw them out. u can find one of those wire antenna and put inside the orange pie antenna holder

Nice demo, but it looks like this case is not meant to be disassembled and reassembled ever again
