Hi Sir, great and detailed video as usual! Just wondering how the second (left side) radiator, fill itself to the top with coolant and the air is able to be pushed out of it? Regards!
@AdventureTravelandScuba
@AdventureTravelandScuba 3 жыл бұрын
They are connected together and that's why you run your bike with the cup open for a bit you will see you will have to top it up as the coolant gets a bit lower and once top up start the bike again to make sure your coolant it up to the neck of the filling cap. Collant starts to rise when it is full. You can look it up also in Service shop manual.

Hey mate, Soundn't be the coolent system flushed with destilited water before you put new coolant? I'm gonna change mine too

Yes that definitely wouldn't hurt to flush with water, on other hand you don't have to, I doubt that they would do this at the dealer service

I repeat my question because you can't see it in the video. Then, once the cooling system has been emptied, the new liquid is added. Then the bike starts, but does the cap have to be put back in the radiator or should it be left open without the cap?
@AdventureTravelandScuba

Leave the cup open after you fill it up with coolant once engine reaches its operating temp. Close cap at the end and top up coolant reservoir to max line as you see in the video

Hi. Great video. Do you close the radiator cap when running for 4 minutes? Or is everything open. Thanks.
@AdventureTravelandScuba
@AdventureTravelandScuba 3 жыл бұрын
No leave it open you will see the coolant slowly rising, the idea is to get the air out of the system once coolant level starts moving up too close to spill turn the bike off. Hope that helps.

who ever watches this video "never ever ever " warm the engine before a coolant change , this can result in terrible burns. Im a honda trained motorcycle technician of 30 years and this made me shudder to watch .
@AdventureTravelandScuba
@AdventureTravelandScuba 3 жыл бұрын
did mention just idle for few min not to make it hot correct? Warm fluids drain slightly better and that's common sense, you don't have to be certified mechanic. Same goes for oil change. My friend is a Mechanic at Toyota for many years he always recommend to do that NOT TO THE POINT WHERE ITS HOT. I did warm it up a bit too much when I was doing this video 😉 The engine was warmer then the fluid itself
@ribbster123
@ribbster123 3 жыл бұрын
@@AdventureTravelandScuba warm oil yes , but there is no viscosity change to water or coolant when hot thus no need to warm engine.

How about thermostat? Should it be open so all coolant drain in all hoses, when its cold thermostat is closed and to me right at the thermostat neck hose some coolant would remain, i don't know what do you think???
@ribbster123
@ribbster123 11 ай бұрын
@@hydrauliccardboardpressmac6576 we are talking 90 degrees centergrade for a thermostat to open the system will be very pressurised at that temp , so no! . There is a small hole in the thermostat which most will drain past.
@AdventureTravelandScuba
@AdventureTravelandScuba 11 ай бұрын
Apparently there is a small pass through on that thermostat so coolant should drain. Also I didn't make the bike super hot before draining antifreeze just warm if you run your bike too hot you may get burned with hot fluid
@parthiparthi4224
@parthiparthi4224 7 ай бұрын
This method does not clear all coolant. Coolant left in the engine water jacket remains due to a closed thermostat.

Not sure if you watch the full video but I did run the engine first. Make sure that the thermostat is open before it started draining it
