As an Antique Booth owner myself, I know there are many that don’t sell on EBay. When pricing items in an Antique Booth, you can’t get what you can on EBay, and you don’t have as many eyes on your items as you do on EBay, so there are many treasures to be found. I’ve actually sourced from other Antique Malls and sold items in my booth for a profit. I’ve also flipped items from Antique Malls on EBay. They’re are great source when garage sale season is slow.😊TFS Pete.

What I learned over here in the U.K from my mother trying to sell my grans furniture that a lot of the time antique furniture so not very practical especially if you live in a flat and they don't come flat-packed. You have to get creative I think.

eBay is good for selling items you no longer want or need. Pete here got me inspired to unload some items and I did about $11,000 within 2 months selling some vintage audio gear I had, a few guitars and some antique fishing lures and reels. Not too bad....found money! Buying some new monster TV's and other assorted goodies with the cash.

My Dad was a picker and my parents ran a flea market booth. Then they got a store and ran that for a couple of years. I got them onto eBay but they always made the most money from the store since the tourists would stop in. We were deep into cottage country and people liked buying the kitschy stuff.

I started selling antiques on ebay back in 2002 when most dealers didn't even own computers. Made a fortune.. The trick with antique dealing is be prepared to spend big when you know what your looking at, but if you don't, buy it cheap.. Also never buy porcelain from a porcelain dealer because they know what they have.. One of the hardest things is not buying anything if there's nothing there. When you have a couple of grand in you pocket it can be difficult, especially if you got up at 5am in the morning to go there... A good tip for selling antiques on ebay is to do your research on the item your selling. Very important for buyers and also you learn something to add to your knowledge..Also start out you description very positive to attract attention, in the middle you give them the bad news ie, condition or other flaws, and end up very positive so the last thing they read leaves them hungry.. The best antique dealers love history and love learning about the things they buy. If you really believe in what you have to sell, you stand more chance of getting a good price.. There's no point in having lots of great inventory and no cash. I used to try and keep things as fluid as possible so sometimes you have to take a hit and sell it much cheaper than you want. Some you win, some you lose.. I don't do it anymore because I do something else but I loved the game...

I'm a Locksmith, that American Motors key and that Ford key are pretty common items. The blanks themselves sell for about 3 bucks, I suppose an older used key would be a bit more but probably not worth listing and shipping for a $4-$6.00 profit

Very true that you have to go in knowing what to look for with antique stores. What I find to work is items that resale $100 and up, usually rarer models of common items. The telltale sign for me to avoid is many of the same item with drastic price differences. That usually means they know the items & researched it. But there are good buys, last month I flipped a typewriter from an antique store on eBay $35 to $225 in under 24 hours. Good find on the Ray-Bans. Anytime the are colored, they sell well. P.S. I think those are gold filled not gold plate (not much of difference 1/20 12k GF is only 2.5% gold but it doesn’t wear down as easily as plate). Keep up the good work, Garage Sales are right around the corner.

I went to the antique swap meet they have once a month in my city--it had rained earlier so they didn't charge the $6 admission, but even getting in free--everything was so expensive I wouldn't waste my time again.

They are indeed loaded with stuff..but here in Ontario Canada, they are closing down due to the outrageous prices they post on pretty common stuff and you can't haggle with the seller - you can't eve FIND OUT who is selling the items unless they happen to be at their booth that day. It's not a good system. Several entire buildings closed down last year. A weird thing the people you 'pay' are always really creepy types who dont' give a fuck what you think . Stone wall type people who don't even have an interest in what they are doing. I think this is a problem just in this area. Alot of stuff is being hoarded in general so it doesn't end up for sale anyways.

I knew nothing and now I can pick from 50 year collectors and grab great cards cheap. You want old real photo postcards of train depots, small towns, China and California. The insulator guy was tripping on mushrooms when he came up with that price. I would say to him that rare doesn't mean valuable, but hey at least he was present at his booth. Most of those places you never see anyone and have basically zero way to negotiate prices you have to basically pay asking price or walk away.

Mine too. I live in a relatively small town with only three of these antique malls. It seems everyone's favorite price guide IS Ebay. When they look up an item, their eyes automatically go to the highest price they see, which is always a "Buy It Now" price. They never look at an actual auction to see what people are REALLY paying for the thing. They see the buy it now price as the gold standard of what things are "goin' fer" then wonder why it sits on the shelf until their kids place them in an old folk's home.

I've not met one yet who doesn't have some other, real income -- (such as a typical entitlement phony "disability" check off their neighbors) -- so they are just playing and fantasizing with their prices on this stuff. If they had to really compete to make a living, they would be having a "fire sale" every week, and reducing LOTS of stuff by 75%. (As I have to do, for old goods on Craigslist, for example, to be able to MOVE them and quit the storage/carrying costs.)

Yep, the ones in my town are full of those types of vendors; people who are rich, retired, or both. They don't seem to mind paying rent month after month without selling anything. It's just a way to fulfill a fantasy of having a little boutique without having an actual store (which the more business-savvy spouses vetoed). I keep my space filled with stuff I went out and hustled to find. I buy cheap and price to move (stuff I don't want to sell on ebay because of size, etc). I've had other vendors buy from me after I double my profit, then they mark the item up outrageously. Then it just sits there. lol!

I have booths in a couple antique places. There are always a few booths who the owners don't do eBay and price well for resale. I see lots of resellers coming looking for items in their wheelhouse.

@@onedayulookback6149 like Pete said, the older people don't sell online. Many specialize in certain items so when they have something different they usually sell it cheap. Other vendors do cleanouts and just price everything cheap. There are lots of transactions between vendors. So something could be brought in originally for $5 then another vendor buys it and then sells it for $20. That guy in the video selling insulators probably buys lots from other vendors and marks them up.

Mr.chow if you are new, spend your time studying COMPLETED LISTINGS on eBay of the categories you like best. Really study those, not just glance at prices. It will pay off in spades. BTW, I’m a FT reseller.
