Just found your channel through shorts and I have some advice that a lot of new restorers don't take into account. Especially with older furniture. Just keep in mind that when a lot of mcm furniture was being made lead was still being used in paint and stain. Congratulations on finding a rewarding career change

Great tip! I need to do more lead testing. Scary to think about!

I really don't understand why people get upset about painting furniture when it can be easily removed for refinishing. It's not destroying the piece and it's saving something from the landfill. People who toss out old hardware....a completely different story but paint? Come on now. Why not make something beautiful instead of throwing it away? Again, it can easily be removed for those who prefer the original wood finish 🤷♀️
@MaryMamaAshlee8 ай бұрын
@@staciemarie5859 speaking for myself, I don’t have a problem with people painting furniture, especially if it’s damaged or an undesirable style. But this particular line of furniture is very collectible, wonderful quality, and intended to show the grain of the wood. If you’re just going to paint a piece, this is not it.

What I really like about this way of income is that it does fix the old stuff. I work as cleaning person for 96 year old lady. Her house is freeze in time. All her furniture is over 50 years old. So stunning! Is something got wear off and just simply fix that, not replaced . Including sofa, chairs, lamps. Beautiful era!

@matthewdavis67415 ай бұрын
@@drewski6566 well if when she started a year ago, she averaged $2,000 per month, but gradually increased her workload and expertise and pricing, we could assume at first it was a couple hundred a month at first, maybe 1-2 pieces. Then gradually over the next few months she made more and more, by the end of that five month period she was probably making $3,000 a month. And now she has even more expertise, we can safely assume she’s making $5,000-$8,000 per month (one piece per day). So just based on the law of averages with the assumption her workload and expertise gradually increased through time, you can assume she made $12,000-$20,000 in this in 2.5 months while the difference came from social media.

I would love a video explaining how you move and get the larger pieces of furniture. Do you have a large truck or rent a uhaul or get help from wherever you buy the piece? If you don’t have a truck or large car, how would you go about moving the pieces? Thanks!
