Also if you do have a vlsd make sure you read this in case you don’t know how one works! So if you didn’t know a vlsd uses a silicone based fluid that when you’re driving and increase throttle the silicone fluid heats up causing the rear end to lock up and spin both tires also never lift the car and let it idle in the air or off the ground with a vlsd or you’re going to burn it up faster than it will take you to realize what you’ve done to your differential also a vlsd no matter what will slowly wear and become a open diff as the silicone fluid that’s inside the differential is sealed and can’t be changed so once the diff is shot it’s shot, but you can still change the normal gear oil. Just a tip for those who are new to differentials and cars in general as I’ve seen people do this before in a shop and then they had to buy the customer a whole new differential..

Breaking torque with a torque wrench. Sweet

according to everyone who ever drifted a Z with the stock diff says that the viscous diff is no good. when it gets hot it just becomes an open diff. you just need a welded diff to drift.

Nice Vid...since you had so much sludge in the dif...would it be a good idea to fill it up with new fluid and then drain again to try and rinse out more of the metal and sludge...is it necessary or even a good idea...other than wasting new fluid.....a flush in a sense...I have a 06 G35 Coupe...wanna do these Fluid changes. Thank You
@fullthrottleperformance6 жыл бұрын
FX EaglePips These fluids are kind of expensive for the red line and I'm going to be replacing and welding my diff anyways so it doesn't really matter for me. Simple drain and fill should be perfectly fine though, it's what the dealer does

I use redline GL-4 mt85 or mt90 I believe is the one I used, but always do your own research. And yes, I think the fluids should be changed. I forget what mileage it specifies in the FSM but I think its every 30-60k miles.
@ElSesh5 жыл бұрын
Full Throttle you don’t think the fluid would be too dirty if it’s never been changed throughout the 80k lifetime and would cause damage to the trans? I just wouldn’t want to change it and have my trans slipping between shifts.

Also the fist time it did it to me was like 5 months ago and it hadnt done it since then i think
@fullthrottleperformance6 жыл бұрын
Honestly that sounds like your car went into limp mode, have you done any modifications to the car? This can be caused by many different issues, I wouldn't know unless I physically looked at your car, even then I don't know if I would be able to find an issue that has only happened twice. Did it throw any codes?
