Whats up guys!
This is the process I took to flush my clogged heater core in my Dodge Avenger. Sadly, the heater core is too far gone and did not fully fix my issue. Hopefully it fixes yours. Easy job to do, aswell.
cars effected: 2012 dodge and similar years, dodge caravan, jeep liberty, Chrysler 200, and other similar cars.

Thanks. I used your procedure with the minor modifications listed. First, I accessed the heater core hoses located on the driver side of the engine versus the firewall locations. Then I used a pistol grip nozzle with a threaded outlet to connect to my flush inlet hose, with the spigot only open a couple of turns so as not to over-pressurize the core. The pistol grip nozzle also allowed me to rapidly pulse the water through to help break up whatever was in there. I started with the flushing water into the bottom hose as you suggested and got maybe a teaspoon worth of fine opague and pink silt after flushing about ten gallons through. The anti-freeze that immediately flushed out was pink instead of orange and the silt was very fine and nearly invisible UNTIL I started slowly pouring the water out of the bucket. When I did the reverse flush, water into the top hose, I got an entire teaspoon of debris which told me that the bottom hose is probably the inlet to the core. I also noticed that the initial seven or eight gallons of flush water was cloudy, while the final gallons of flush water were immediately clear. However, in the end, the procedure worked and the heat appeared to be fully restored tot he passenger side of the cabin. Again, thanks... and good work.

Did you try putting radiator flush in the core and let it sit for awhile? Then flush it out. It’s probably plugged and needs chemicals to break it up. I saw a guy do a reverse flush with an air hose.

Good video. You're right, it's a common problem. I've got a friend that only buys Chrysler products and is always dealing with heater core issues. In fact, he just had me replace every component on his 3.7 dodge nitro except heater core and still no heat. I'm going to try a flush on the core before I RIP apart his dash. I kept telling him it's the core but he insisted on replacing everything else.

Ahhh, that’s pretty irritating. It’s might be to late, like my car. Our dodge only has about 68k too. Flushing it is pretty easy, so definitely do that. If that doesn’t help; for sure get an aftermarket one. Chrysler sucks 😂 Maybe even run the water longer than I did.

@@AutoMotivate there are cleaners out there too so I may try that. I almost got him ready to get rid of it, he needs 3rd row. I have a 2011 with the same problem. It's a common problem coused by Dodge not flushing the blocks afterwards so all that shit went to the heater core. It's a shame Dodge can't put out a recall as it's clearly there fault .

Not sure if this is too late but if you are referring to the gold piece that he connects to the water hose, that piece is just a general size adaptor and you will 99% get it right because its a common adaptor.

@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 3 жыл бұрын
So, the ac is blowing cold and the car is running hot? To me, it sounds like there isn’t an fluid running through the heater core, therefor, the heatercore might have air pockets and that can make your car overheat. Now, with that said, the heatercore in these cars often clog up. I would recommend doing a coolant flush, replace the heater core (I have a shortcut method in this), then replace the fluid with standard antifreeze. You can try to do the coolant flush (when I say coolant flush, I really mean flush it with the proper procedure because the dexron is what is clogging the heatercore) and add stained AF. When you are bleeding the system, jack up the front end and really be patient. Allow the fan to kick on a few times and ensure there are zero bubbles. Even give it gas to help push the fluid around. But, like I said, I recommend replacing the heatercore in total
